Man how the Nutt party-line has changed

Man I hate to make another Nutt thread but it's too much lately and we have LA Tech this week (who might beat us...but regardless I don't know enough about them to discuss the game).....

Remember how the NAFOOMer's posted here relentlessly about how Nutt wasn't fired from ARK but he left because Ole Miss was a better opportunity and the fans weren't crazy like at ARK....plus his agent had worked out how to get a ****-ton of cash from ARK on the way out (ironic now...)..

Then the Rebel fans did everything they could to mock the Hogs as they went to two straight Cotton Bowls on the back of "Heisman Snead"... chanting "Nutt Nutt Nutt" at the ARK game and again in oxford..

Now, as all the Hog fans are <rightfully> mocking them (I will note that I agree the Hog fans are obsessive compulsive about Nutt -almost psychotic- but that is a trait of many an SEC fan), the party line from Rebel fans is that they would never give two ***** about a coach that they fire and the Hogs should leave them alone...

Yet they were relentless (in a different medium) to Tubby (yeah yeah he $**@%+ them and they were bitter..ok)... But still everytime Cutcliffe wins or loses it is posted on almost all their sites and also when he was a UT every interception was blamed on him. They don't get the fact that Nutt went to Ole Miss just to rub it in the Hog fans faces. If he ended up at South Carolina and went to the Cap One Bowl but **** the bed the next two years getting canned you think the Rebel fans would ignore it?? haha..

Because we are better than they are in football, basketball, and baseball right now.

Don't let them lie to you - it drives them crazy that l'il ol' MSU beats their asses every year. Everything was fine as long as we had LT and Croom. But as soon as we get a competent AD and coach all Hell breaks loose at TSUN.

and their fans, yes all of them, are calling for everyone to be fired.

Yeah, that will really entice a budding young coach to take over that program.

Its almost the same reaction they gave Cutcliffe. He gave them years of consistent winning and he has one bad season and hes out. Not that I don't agree Nutt is not going up anytime soon, it just looks bad to possible candidates.

Treatment like that gets you coaches like Orgeron...not the Peteresens of the coaching world.

Nutt has always been inconsistent, but going from cotton bowls to back to back 4 (or less) win seasons is unacceptable. Losing to a team like Jacksonville State and getting blown out by vandy are signs that your coach doesn't give a 17.

Also, QB killer. Unable to develop talent. He squeezed every drop he could out of Snead (bye bye) and McCluster (Holy crap 282 yards against UT). I still don't understand how they beat LSU in 08 and 09.

Point is, they're in a 17ing freefall, and need to change as drastically as possible. Only thing is, the "ole miss culture" is such a ****** one that doesn't care about football for the most part, it might get fun.

Nutt was doing nothing more than padding his retirement when he decided to come to Oxford. He was run out Fayetvillequicker thana slump buster the next morning. Nutt took the job at Ole Miss, capitalized onOrgeron's talentfor two Cotton Bowl, pimped himself out for every "better" job opening and leveraged that into a long term contract with an onerous buy out. When he finally departs Oxford, there is no doubt he will leave with his middle finger extended and big *** smile on his face. Nutt and Sexton bent Boone over Deliverance style.

There are going to be some coaches that don't want to touchtheUM job because of the difficulty of meeting expectations, but there will always besomebody that will accept an SEChead coaching job (excludingVandy).

The Orgeron hire was a little different. First, Cutcliffe was on losing season number 1 (I think). Um was due for a rebuilding year or two and I don't think there were a lot of problems with the players off the field. Cutcliff had completely fallen down on the job with recruiting, but to an outsider, it probably did look like nobody could satisfy expectations. Even then, Orgeron was a panic hire. Had they not had such ricidulous expectations at first, they could have found an up and coming coordinator. Not one of the top up and comers, but certainly better than Orgeron.AFter they were rejected four or five times, theyhit the panic button.

This time around, Nutt will have had two disastrous seasons in a row, with losses to aDiv I-AAoppenent and Vandy. UM may not be the easiest place to win, but they have enough advantages that they should be able to consistently beat Vandy. I doubt the program will look as toxic to potential coaches. They probably won't get a Gus Malzhan or a Petersen, but there will be somebody with decent success at a coordinator position or maybe as a head coach at a small school that will be willing to take the risk. At worst,UM just has to pony up on the buyout provision so that whatever coach is taking the risk knows that he will have a soft landing if he falls.

when it looks like MSU has surpassed them in football. Same thing happened in the late 90s leading to private investigators trying to dig up rules violations on us along with the infamous Xenareb-Johannigmeier affair. As far as basketball and baseball 90% of their fanbase probably doesn't even realize they play those sports.

I remember being so jealousof the fact that he seemed to fall into their lap. I imagine our terrible 2008 season and the 45-0 drumming had something to do with it....</p>
