Holy Christ I am sick of the whole cowbell debate. It's time for the other SEC schools to grow a pair and get over themselves. Really SEC? You're insinuating that your athletes cannot compete against a metal clapper? A bell is making you lose a game? Really? 'Unfair advantage' ? How about our school is located in a state that supports EIGHT public universities and SIXTEEN public junior colleges. The slice of the pie for us both athletically and academically is incredibly thin within our own state borders. And I'm not even counting the fact that we have significantly lower population compared to other SEC states. Or how about comparing MSU's athletic budget to that of the schools who are against the cowbell. I'd say that's a PRETTY UNFAIR ADVANTAGE. Or how about we have the second smallest stadium in the SEC (thanks Vanderbilt). I'd say an extra 30-50k fans in a stadium is an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE.

Man up SEC. It's a bell. It's what makes us MSU and it's no different than a woo pig sooie or toilet paper and detergent on a stick. It's OUR TRADITION.

Lenin agrees!

Saban, Richt,Phillips and I believe Chizikhave said bells don't bother them...it is MSU's tradition. So...who is doing the bitching to Mike Slime besides Urban and his <17>'n president?

MSU needs to push that no wild animals or birds of prey can be brought within a large distance of fans. Since fan saftey is such a huge point, how can live birds of prey be let loose over the crowd? We for sure can't have live tigers in baton rouge! Absolutely no live gators anywhere on florida's campus.

No animals that cannot be domesticated are allowed on gameday. If that gains traction, Im sure a compromise can be reached.

Says it is 11 coaches that are the problem. Now we "only" need to swing six of them so we can get a 7-5 vote in our favor.

Mississippi State is to

as SEC is to

Occasionally, something good may happen

To which the SEC responds,

And,

And balance is restored

I hope that clears it up for everyone.

I have been going to Miss State football games since the 80's. The bells are here to stay! They, the SEC has been trying to get rid of them since the 70's and they are still here. About every ten years or so they make a big push but they always give up and they will give up this time. You just can't stop 33K knuckle heads from bringing them in. They have been a part of Miss State football for over 60 year and when you say you can't you are basically daring them to bring them in. I am not worried one bit about losing them. First of all the rule is ********. This has to be the only rule in college football that put into place for one school and one school only. It's not a NCAA rule it's a SEC rule that you have a few coaches from other schools bitching about and these very same coaches won't be in the SEC five years from now. If challage in court we could win. Are the bells dangerous? Hellno whens the last time someone got hurt. Is it form of free speech. Hell yeah if burning the American Flag is a form of free speech then anything you can imagine is free speech. It is a stupid rule. Tenn, Fl and other schools with 90K plus stadiums filter noise through the sound system and this is no different. So I say let them *****! They have been bitching for 40 years and I would bet my left nut they will be bitching for another 40 years.

Of course it was 12-0 ADs against cowbells. Coaches have repeatedly stated that it doesn't affect them or they don't even notice them on the field. This is 100% political.
