It’s sad when you can damn near predict every at bat in every tight situation. Hunter Hines is terrible, he falls for the same crap pitches every time, our young relievers are scared of giving up the big hot! Need some jurardo’s on this team! Oh yeah- you just had to know that Highfill was gonna err somewhere!

Truth is, when good teams play each other, a lot of games are like this. We just haven't been winning the close ones much this year. Good to get this one because sweeping Mizzou won't be simple and now winning two likely gets us in.
Going to be interesting to see what playing N AL and then a terrible Mizzou team does to our RPI, especially with a loss to Mizzou

Ole Miss is one and we have looked more like one recently.
Meh, I dont agree with that. Neither are at the top of the standings. I don't see either making a deep run in post season. They're average to below average SEC teams. We are playing better. Maybe we catch fire somehow.

These teams are both pretty mediocre. Tournament teams. But nothing more.

This designation thing gets old. Ole Miss has been in the conversation for hosting. That means they're in the conversation for being one of the best 16 college teams in the country

Of course that means they are clearly good. Not elite or great, but certainly 17'n good. They're better than hundreds of other college teams.

Hell, you'd have said the same thing about the Ole Miss team that won a national championship (probably did).

Damn...

I can’t help it if people mentioning Mississippi as a possible host overrated them. I’ve said for 2 months they’re not that good, and I still don’t think they are.

Postseason baseball can be flukey as hell. That 2022 UM team isn’t even the worst team to win the championship. But this team doesn’t have the pitching that team had.

Based on Boyd’s RPI Needs Report, any loss will drop us out of the top 32 in RPI.
I don’t think a team has ever been left out with a 14-16 SEC record but if we go 2-2 this week I guess we’ll be the first.

Far from the worst. They were preseason top 5 that year and floundered around during the season.

Warren Nolan projects we’ll go 4-0 & RPI remains unchanged at #31. Which kind of confirms Boyd’s RPI Needs.

If we go 2-2, against these teams, we deserve to be left out. I don't believe we will though
Yeah. Even if we go 3-1, it would be by far our worst loss of the season. Should go 4-0 & lock a bid up. Could maybe lose 1 at Missouri, but I think we need an SECT win to feel comfortable about a bid if we do.

I agree. We got very fortunate with our SEC schedule this year, unlike football.

There are 308 D1 baseball teams. 64 make the tournament. Both should make it. That's better than mediocre.
That's a straw man argument. There are maybe 80 baseball programs that compete at a very different level than the other 220. Yes, compared to Alcorn and MS Valley State, UMiss and Kentucky are freaking awesome teams. Of course, Missouri is an awesome team compared to them too.

First, I didn't say that they were awesome, just better than mediocre. There are 136 FBS schools, that still puts us in top half and still better than mediocre.

Pat, I don't think Mizzou can be awesome in anybody's eyes but their mothers.

Mizzou lost 10-2 to AL St who is 26-27 on the season.

They lost 2 games to 15-35 Evansville

They lost 2 games to 23-22 Binghampton

They scored 1 in the bottom of the 9th to squeak by UAPB 8-7

They were run ruled by Mizzou St 11-0

and I don't look forward to this weekend at all.............................
