Manchester City....WOW......

[L4Dawg]

They have basically been thumbing their noses at this for years. UEFA finally got serious. Good for UEFA.

Saw that. They probably deserve even harsher penalties. I'll be surprised if this doesn't get overturned or at least reduced though. The FA is probably going to be forced to penalize them too if this stands because if they violated the UEFA FFP rules, they also violated the FA rules.

I'm not holding my breath that this is going to stick in any appreciable form.

Sadly, I agree.

Yeah, me either.

Why don't they just go ahead an implement a salary cap?

[aTotal360]

Who's they? Every country in Europe?

Ever heard of transfer fees? Players are bought and sold over there. Those have more to do with this than salery, although it does figure in. The rules state that a club basically has to break even. There is no way that a very small club like City is breaking even given that they are the biggest spenders on the transfer market. If this sticks Paris St. Germain, also owned by an Arab royal family, will be next. Chelsea, or Chelski, were the reason for the rule. Since their Russian Oligarch owner can't get a U.K. VISA anymore they are havng to live within their means now. The other big spenders, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Barcelona, and my Liverpool, are actually businesses and MAKE the money new they spend.
