passes on 2 yrs / $45 million, with both yrs being guaranteed by the Dodgers. But, Manny could opt out after the first yr, if his stock rose. The Dodgers would have been on the hook for both yrs. What a maron. He's getting some baaaaaaaadddd advice. Seriously doubt there'll be many takers with a better offer than that, considering who the subject of the negotiations is.

Any time Scott Boras is someones agent you have to throw all rules out the window. He thinks Manny is worth 25 million a year, and I bet he tells Manny to sit out until he gets it. I said from the beginning that if the Braves let you go, then you might need to watch out, and the Braves got rid of an overweight lazy Andruw Jones and the Dodgers payed 16.1 million a year for him and got played, all thanks to Scott Boras. The man is a great agent, but I think he may have gone too far with Manny. No one is gonna pay that much money for him. I dont think the Yankees want him, he wont go back to Boston, and other than the Dodgers and maybe the Angels no one else has that kind of money. Manny should know better than to not take that. There arent any other teams out there who can really afford him right now.

So he keeps playing everyone and turning down offers to get a couple more weeks off

The newest deal paid more money up front. It was 25 mill guaranteed the first year. Plus he could opt out after the first year. So he would have been making 25 a year.

...Manny isn't going to play in the WBC?

Threadjack: I hate the WBC. It means nothing, really, and you have GMs for 30 teams holding their collective breath that their multi-million dollar superstars don't get hurt in the tournament. I was reading about the Mets yesterday...the entire core of their team is playing in that tournament: Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, K-Rod, Putz, and Feliciano, among others. And Santana was going to play but the Mets requested that he skip it.

I think it's a bad idea, but it's going to take a superstar getting injured for anyone to do anything about it.

Albert Haynesworth got 7 years and $100M ($41M guaranteed).. here's the shocker: D'Angelo Hall signed for $54M ($22.5M guaranteed).. This guy must have the best agent in the world. He has gotten a pretty average player almost $50M in guaranteed money over the past 2 years from the Raiders and Redskins.

If he doesnt go to the Dodgers he will end up with the Giants. And with the money some of these players are making he is worth 25 million a year. He is the best hitter in the game right now. I still don't understand why he turned this deal down though

Albert Haynesworth??? WTF are you smoking? He may not be worth 100M, but the dude is the best defensive tackle, bar none, in the game. Hell, he may be the best defensive player, period, in the game.

I was talking about D'Angelo Hall. Al Davis gave him $25M guaranteed last year and then released him after 8 games.. then this year the Redskins give him $22.5M guaranteed.
