"If the Bulldogs don't knock off Kentucky tonight, they are all but done." This being in regards to the NCAA tournament. I think if we don't win tonight (which I'm not expecting us to) our last regular season save will be @Bama. Lose both this week, we are on the outside looking in and only an impressive SECT win(s) can push us back in. Even with a semi-impressive resume, the late season 3 game (possibly 5 game) skid and low RPI will be enough for the committee to pass over us. I expect we win our last 2 games, and go 1-1 in the SECT, we will be no worse than a 2 seed in the NIT. Still very disappointing for our season considering our resume up until last Saturday.

..as far as the NCAA tournament is concerned, this squad was "all but done" when they lost @ home to UGA.

As far as MSU basketball is concerned, Pat Forde is two weeks behind the times.

Given how weak the bubble is, I said a week ago I thought you needed a 3-3 finish. Obviously now that translates to 3-1.

You may pull the upset tonight, but if you don't, that means you have to finish 3-0.

I think you could still have a shot if you finish 2-1 after UK, but you'd need at least 2 SEC tourney wins, and that will be very difficult.

Last week at this time, I thought you were still in good shape. The two losses though on top of the UGA loss has really put that in question now, obviously.

At this point, it's looking like there may be a chance for a rubber match in the Ole Miss-MSU series this year in the NIT.

..for the in-depth analysis of a point that is so moot, it couldn't get any mooter.

Perhaps OM & MSU can meet again in a NIT match-up.

Break that one down, since that's the only realistic scenario left.

That's just my personal opinion. I know it's the Andy Kennedy Invitational and all, but I don't care what we do there. I have a hard time watching us in games where we are trying to play for our tournament lives, much less watching us when we're playing in a meaningless tournament.

The NIT is like going to the Papa John's Bowl. Congrats on not sucking. Here's your consolation prize.

That said, on a disappointment scale, if you're playing in the AKI with us, your disappointment has to be higher. We were an NIT team from Day 1, even though some of our fans bought the NCAA could be possible. I am still somewhat baffled by your season.

I definitely think it's time for Stans to be let go. He reminds me a lot of Bianco, had a really strong run early in his career but has steadily fizzled and never quite could get over the hump (Sweet Sixteen for Stans, Omaha for Bianco). If you fall all the way to the NIT this year, your last 7 years will have 3 NITs, 2 NCAAs, and 2 years missing everything. Also, one of those NCAA bids was an automatic bid that would not have been an at large bid on its own, so really 6 of the last 7 years, he would've failed to qualify for an at large bid. Even the one year where he did get an at large bid, you crapped the bed in OOC play and ended up an 8 seed, when you could've easily been a 5 seed or so.
