altho, I dont understand how we could be so bad at contracts...UPig signs Anderson to a 7yr/2.2 million a year deal- the buyout is only 1 million- but supposedly our buyout of Stands is 3 million right now?

Something doesnt make sense

when he announcedafter we lostto Rider in 2010- that they hadnt even worked on zone offense before the 1st game. How do you not work on zone offensein 3-4 weeks of practice? Especially when you have 5 starters returning?

I think we will miss the NCAA's again next season.

He cant put his zone offense in with 5 starters returning- I dont see our 3 true Freshmen knowing a whole lot by the time they have to take the court in November. Bad losses in Nov and December- along with an improved SEC = State as a bubble team come March of 2012

He'll still do just enough with next year's team to keep stickin around. Sad Sad Sad. It's sad that a coach like him can keep hanging around at a school for this long. What a 17in poser. I wanna be happy about this non-extension, but he'll do just enough to stay next year, even though he'll underachieve like a mother17er. And before anyone asks me about my crystal ball, I don't need one. Name a year when stansbury overachieved. That's what I thought.

I am sure there was a conversation about what goals Stans needed to meet next year to receive an extension, I just hope the Sweet 16 was one of them..

I think Deville is going to be as good if not better than Dee was coming in. I think Hood will be the best freshmen we have had here in recent memory, and I also believe David Gardner will surprise people. I expect him to be better than Jalen Steele. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how good our signing class will turn out to be. I'm not going to speak on behalf of our most recent commit. Don't know much about him.

Dee played the 2 in High School, not the 1. Deville is quicker than Dee, and really can penetrate and dish the ball. He looks to pass first, but can shoot as well.

I can't see a 3 star freshman being "at least as good". The speed of the game is going to take awhile for him to figure out. He's going to make a lot of turnovers his freshman year, and he's going to get burned on the defensive end by some of the better SEC guards. To expect anymore from a freshman PG that is not a top 20 type recruit is unrealistic.

at the beginning of the season...Deville will be the same way- it's just a different level of basketball- same for Hood

Everybody got their hopes up in 2010- then reality set in and we missed the Tourney
Everybody got their hopes up in 2011- then reality set in and we missed everything

Reality will set in during 2012 as well- We have only been good enough 1 time in the last 6 years to make the NCAA Tourney- expecting it to be a given next year is ridiculous when you know who our coach is.

It will be up to Dee and Stans as to who plays the 1. All I am saying is that he is way ahead of where Dee was as a Freshmens PG from day 1.

Smith is a 4 star on Rivals and a top 60 recruit in the nation according to ESPN if I'm not mistaken. ESPN and Rivals kick Scouts *** in basketball recruiting. Also Gardner is a 4 star on both sites and received a 92 grade by ESPN if I'm not mistaken. I'm not gonna look it up bc I'm at work and about to get off. Talent wise, Garner, Smith, and Hood is the most talent we've brought in a long time. Barry Stewart and JV's class was good, but JV wasn't reliable on offense until his junior year and Barry wasn't very good on D until his junior year. Overall I say we're bringing in players that are as complete as Rick has brought in since I can remember and I'm expecting big things from this group early on.

Smith coming in being as good as Bost WHEN HE CAME IN is different than Bost IN HIS SR SEASON.

See the difference?

but that still doesn't make it a true statement. that's just one guy's opinion. Bost is one of our best players ever, especially at the guard positions, and he's been that way since he got here. Annoint Deville if you want, but don't blame him if he can't live up to your unrealistic expectations. Kodi Augustus, Walter Sharpe, and Vernon Goodridge were all supposed to be the next big thing as well. I'm not saying the guy won't come in and do a great job, but let's at least let him graduate high school before we try to decide.

it's that outrageous of a statement. He's saying one the top pg in the state (who has played nothing but pg) could be better as a freshmancompared to Dee as a freshman (who played the 2 in high school). I agree with that, from all that I've heard. He's not saying the Smith as a freshman will be greater than Dee as a senior.

Thanks KR..

I think Deville and Bost will take turns at the 1 with Bryant and Bost at the 2. I never said Deville will be better than Dee next year at the 1, but will be better than when he was as a Freshmens...
