I'm pro-Carr.

He's not perfect. I'd love to have a Damian Lillard/Steph Curry type guy who just buries threes all day and can drive the ball. We may not find that/land that. So I'm a fan of getting a guy with big time production against Big 10 competition.

Carr can drive the ball. He does something we were sorely lacking in yesterday. He scores the basketball. Yes, he was a volume shooter at MN. I suspect if he comes here he won't be a volume shooter. I think his shot selection will get better, and this will improve his percentages. He's a better three point shooter than a lot of guys we sent out there last year.
Good post Cats192. Carr does have some flaws in his game. He's not a great shooter but he does appear to be a really good scorer. I feel like his shooting is better than his percentages would indicate, though, because he was often forcing shots while trying to carry that team. They were often playing from behind. I do take some comfort in the fact that his shooting numbers were better the year before, when the team was better.

Here are his numbers, most recent first.

2935.838.531.779.94.04.90.11.32.32.319.4

3228.639.633.381.82.84.00.10.62.22.810.0

I feel like if he has Kellan Grady on one wing and a guy like Dontaie Allen on the other wing, and at least a couple threats down on the block, he may not feel the need to jack up so many difficult shots. That would help immediately.

And you're right about this- the best thing I see from Carr is something we were missing this season at the point guard position- he can get by his man and get to the rim and he's strong enough to finish through contact- also, he is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor. I also like the fact that, even though I don't like all the wild shots and the James Harden step-backs, he is a guy who can go get you a bucket on his own if needed. He can find his shot when he must and he seems like a guy who can take over when the team needs it. It's always good to have that in your arsenal, even if we hope that isn't his primary MO.

So, with Carr:

Starters

G Carr
G Grady
F Toppin
F Collins
F Tshiebwe

Bench

G Hickman
G Allen
F Hopkins
F Ware

Hopefully we get Mintz and Brooks back as well.
Does Toppin get more minutes than Allen? Toppin played more than Allen this year and Allen played more than Juzang did last year. fwiw ...

question for you guys leery of Carr's 3pt shooting percent
i know a lot of people worry about him shooting 32% but are fine if he shoots 35%

how many do you all think he will take a game at UK?

if he averages 5 a game and base it on 20 or 40 games then the difference between 32% and 35% is so minor it does not matter
we are only talking about 1 extra made 3 every 7 games (rounded up)

Who cares. It is too early to worry about minutes. We don't even know if either will be here next year and who else may transfer in or out.

If you are talking about Carr I agree. However I have no idea who you are talking about.
Since this tread is about Marcus Carr, I would think you should be able to figure out who I was talking about. In case you can't do that, let me tell you. I was talking about Marcus Carr.

Not worried at all. I only watched a couple minutes of the video but he was 17 for 17 from the field with three assists. He made some really difficult threes and threw in an and-one. It was almost as impressive as BJ Boston’s mixtape. 😏

So you think a thread never gets off track and talks about something else. How long have you been on this board but thanks for the words of encouragement
