Would be nice to snag him ourselves, with at least 2 running backs (one in the rotation) heading out for us.

You might be talking about Horton and Jo Jo. If you are suggesting that Boom will leave after this year, I highly doubt that. Right now, Boom is a borderline NFL prospect. At best, he is a late round NFL draft choice as a 3rd down change of pace back if he comes out now. He has everything to gain by returning for Kentucky's 2017 season and entering the 2018 draft as probably 1 of the top senior running backs in the country.
Being "one of the top senior running backs" in the NFL Draft does not account for much. Look how many outstanding college running backs fall in the NFL Draft. Boom is at his NFL Draft peak, and he has had injury scares every season. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Yeah, I would like to see him return because it would be better for UK, but I'm not going to act like he has something to gain professionally by returning next season.
I want boom to return as much as anybody, but he has his future to consider. Even if he has to make a roster as an undrafted free agent, that may have to be his route. He's taken about as much physical abuse as he can without being compensated for it.
He does have something to gain by coming back, it's called a degree, which no one can ever take away from him.

I don't think you can say Boom is at his draft peak. A few things could possibly improve his draft stock. Showing the ability to catch the ball out of the back field. If he can manage to make it through the season without any major injuries or missing time that could help. Durability is a big thing in football. If somehow he could add a little weight and muscle while maintaining his speed and playmaking ability that could help. Not pertaining to football but as someone said above getting a degree. With the severe injury chance and shelf life being short for RBs a degree could be the most important thing he gets from returning.
Depends on what that degree is in.If he commits and gets drafted he can always return and get his degree.And the salary he could get in the NFL could make him a wealthy man for the rest of his life.
Sorry, but if a kid can cash an optimized check, he needs to do it, especially if another down of CF means he might never have the chance. NCAA offers an insurance program, but I'm sketchy on details, though pretty sure injury must be "career ending".
He can get a degree without playing football at UK. Playing college football isn't his only opportunity to graduate, but his NFL opportunity is limited.
I have no idea what Boom's plans are, but any back who has a chance to make an NFL roster and chooses to return to college either has no desire to play in the league or has family money. Boom isn't going to get first round money if he stays another year, not a knock against him, its just the way the NFL has gone. He isn't going to get it if he returns next year, he is looking at 4th round at best either year, so returning isn't going to have much impact. Is it worth the risk of a major injury to move up 3-4 spots in the draft? Even if he isn't drafted, a free agent contract and practice squad isn't something to sneeze at.
