My point is Mitch's job is to run an athletic dept not recruit for his local church.
I completely agree.

Especially if the recruitment pitch and the "you better shape up or you won't be around very long" line were part of the same conversation. Athletic Director is a powerful position.

But who really knows the actual context. That twitter content was a little hard to piece together.

And besides, Mitch is a member of the most popular religion around town (and on these forum boards), so it's all good anyway, I guess.

Actually your church and faith should be priority if you believe.

If we think faith, family and responsibility should come after winning then we are doing these young people we identify as "high potential" at a young age a huge disservice.

After reading what was written I think it's obvious what was made important and what wasn't. Grammar and composition sure didn't take a front seat on the priority train.

Hoo-boy - a loss like that makes the oddballs come out of the closet, doesn't it? Hey man, church is church; football is football. Get over it.

I can tell you this, one of the current UK defensive lineman told me they aren't allowed to "rush" like animals they are being held back a lot.
I noticed Jason Hatcher get really physical and animated later in the Vandy game. He made one play and seemed to scream at UK's bench. I had not seen that from him in awhile if ever. He looked like the guy we all thought he was in HS. I think there is a lot of truth to the players not being physical enough and it seemed to start last season when Baker got suspended after the LSU game hit. This program has gotten soft and I see guys who were big time players in HS look average at UK. Something is not right because its goes against what Stoops preached from Day 1 about the team having to be more physical.

I wonder how many people on this thread confuse him with current player Marcus McWilson who plays the same position? Marcus McClinton never played for Coach Stoops so it's probably unfair to assume these comments reflect on the current team.

I have a question for Marcus if he happens to be reading this thread. If you think "The whole squad was losers on the field. We sucked." then how did you guys manage to beat #1 LSU?

And forever thanks for: WE BELIEVE!

Wasn't this the guy who set off homemade bombs at some point and was charged with endangerment. He played good at times, but Wesley Woodyard was the reason that defense was decent. I would like to think Marcus for his singing though...every time I walk into Commonwealth now I still sing in my head "do you, you believe you believe you believe, cause we, we believe, we believe we believe!"

I think the divide is between the rsjr/sr class and the rest of the team. Pretty much why the offense is unhappy, they want Barker over towles.

And I think the seniors still have the Joker mentality of it's alright if we lose, can we have ice cream? The younger players are wanting to win now and tired of the not caring being done by the seniors.

Perhaps said player is living a destructive life off the field and mitch sees church as a positive reenforcement in the players life. Alot of these players need more in their lives than just football.
Mitch's job is to also help influence a players life in a positive way.
Tim Tebow is a Christian. Seems like he won some games in college
I agree. Some on here don't want to hear it, but there are plenty of panzies that don't go to church.
I get it, everyone is frustrated, but church this teams proble.

Barker should have fought those 20 guys like you would have. Tough guy.

To be completely honest some people are cut like that. At his age had someone fired into my buddy like that you can bet Id have went down swinging. Sometimes its not about taking a butt whipping its about the issue at hand. You take as many of them out as you can and hope youre not hanging with a bunch of sissies that leave you hanging. Now at my age I help my buddy up and hit the sucker puncher with my taser as we limp off, lol. My point is not everyone is afraid of some physical abuse and its likely that a large portion of football players fall into that category, hell I want most of them to fall into that category. Its the foxhole mentality and it applies to teammates too if the makeup of the team is strong. It was rather disappointing to see them just take the abuse and not fight back. Thats just the opinion of a former tough guy with a few scars to remind me of those days.

Our AD isn't fit to be one.

The recruits should run to another school, this football program is a mess.

How do we stand for it? No wonder we are the laughing stock to Louisville and SEC teams.

Mitch needs to keep to himself. Ive always said that the Dorian Baker suspension came from above Mark Stoops, and i believe it even more after reading that.
If that is the case then he needs to go... OR... just have him sit in the office like he was told to do with basketball.
Something's not right up there and I don't think it all on the coaches...

You can't compare the whole tebow was Christian and winner stuff to what Marcus is talking about. For every tebow Florida had they, a spikes, harvin, cooper, Hernandez, demps, Dunlap, Haden, Wright. All of which played and lived with an attitude. If I had to guess not many of them went to church with Timmy

I'm not going to enter the debate regarding McClinton - Barnhart -FB & Church. With regard to the Baker block vs the LSU player and the subsequent sitting Baker for the next game, whomever was responsible for that decision, Barnhart or Stoops,it certainly set a bad BAD precedent regarding the style of play that is/was expected by the AD/HC!!!

There has been considerable criticism of Baker and his blocking, or lack thereof this season!!! I'm not suggesting that there is any correlation between the aggressive-hard hitting/blocking of last season and the perceived lack of same this season. Just an observation on my behalf!!!!

Maybe that is why Baker doesn't block any more. Ridiculous to suspend the kid for a legal hit. He led with the shoulder and hit the kid in the shoulder. Nothing but a football play.

I can tell you this, one of the current UK defensive lineman told me they aren't allowed to "rush" like animals they are being held back a lot.

I really didn't want to give this thread the time of day.....
However, I can speak with a FACT that Eliot, at one of the clinics, specifically said that they want their D linemen to rush the passer "with caution" so they contain the QB in the pocket and don't allow an escape for big scramble yds. That is just smart football.
If an 18-20 yo kid mishears that statement and then doesn't "try" as hard that is understandable, and it needs to be addressed by the staff.

The other 95% of this thread is BS
