The Alabama OL has gotten worse if anything. It made Trent Richardson a Heisman candidate in 2011.

That said, since Nick Saban started coaching, he has pretty much had a Heisman candidate every year.

Yeah. I attribute that to the 5* guys on Bama's line. Whenever I see situations like that I think about how I stupidly got excited when the Giants hired Tom's Brady's QB coach John Hufnagel to be our OC. I thought "Ohhhhh, nice. Worked with Brady." Guy was a disaster.

Not all of Alabama's players are four or five star recruits. My brother's nephew was a walk on as a freshman and played numerous positions until he was offered a scholarship in his fifth year. He's often lead blocker at tight end for Aaron Henry who refers to him as Highway 46. 46 being the number of his jersey. He has caught two passes for touchdowns. Not bad for someone who started off as a 230 pound offensive lineman.

He has been nominated by UA for the national award given to walk ons. Sometimes persistence is just as important as talent.

All but a small handful of those plays were runs behind the left guard. That guy is a beast.

Don't forget Lane Kiffin's play calling keeps defenses off balance. At least Kiffin has OC experience.

You can get players, but developing and motivating them, and making sure they can be the best they can be, is another story. See Al Goldens tenure at Miami.

I think if we get stuck and can't get any of Ou Top choices then Mario wouldn't be a bad last resort

Kirk Ferentz is an OL Coach, with talent not much different from ours, and his team is in the B1G Championship Game this Saturday.

He had previous 3 years head coaching experience at Maine, experience under Bellichek, and 17 years of experience before he could get there.

Mario spent 6 years coaching FIU and has also coached at Miami and Alabama. In total, he's been coaching for 14 years, and has the background to be successful.

Suffice to say that literally HUNDREDS of OL coaches have had Heismann candidates running behind their lines. How many went on to become great HC's?

Remind me what his record was at FIU and why he got fired? Was it has most experienced team that led to his record his last year of coaching?

you can lookup his record via google.com. he was fired because he and the AD did not see eye to eye. His last year was a rebuilding year, and he never had a chance to replace T.Y. Hilton, who was drafted the year before. If you've been to FIUs campus, you'd realize that what he accomplished there was amazing.

Here's why I don't want Cristobal.

Find Bama and Rutgers on that list.

Yeah, I wouldn't see eye to eye with a guy that went 3-9 with an experienced class either.

he didn't get fired because he went 3-9, he got fired because there were philosophical differences with the AD. FIU fans wished they had him back. its tough to win consistently at a place like FIU because they don't have much to offer.

No one cares about tackles for loss. Miami is #7 and their coach got fired.

what matters is that Derrick Henry was #1 in rushing yards and will take a trip to New York, and Alabama will likely be in the college football playoff as long as they win saturday.

The Bama fans care, Henry is number 1 for rushing due to Henry himself being a complete beast.

Derrick Henry realizes the offensive line is a critical part of his success:

Moreover, with potentially thee games to go, Henry became the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader for rushing yards in a season with 1,797, topping Trent Richardson’s 1,679 yards in 2011.

“It means a lot to me, my teammates, the offensive line—everyone on the offense that worked hard to get here, to accomplish something so big,” Henry said. “We just had to stay locked in and focused.”
