Thanks for the kind words that began your post. Truth be told, I also enjoy your posts and your ball busting style...especially when it is directed at MS.
Regarding LA and NDCP, I disagree. If you were to say LA and DePaul Prep, I would be more inclined to agree with your analogy of Michigan and Robert Morris College. NDCP is a solid 8A program playing in a solid conference. Again, they have missed the playoffs just once in the past 12 years. This year in round one, they lost in OT to Minooka, at Minooka. Minooka went on to hand Barrington its first loss of the season in round two. NDCP may not be a top tier 8A program, but they are most definitely a respectable one.
I know very well that Rice is situated between Marist and Rita. Another poster posited the hypothetical situation that if Marist and Rita's programs were combined that it would be an 8A power. My response to him was to point out that Loyola and ND are closer to each other than Rita is to Marist. BTW, according to the IHSA, Notre Dame is a larger school than Rice. St. Pat's, another school with which Loyola competes for many of the same students, is not much smaller than Rice..
I am very aware of the competition for student athletes among the south side Catholic schools. Very aware. I indicated as much in a previous post in which I said "I'm not suggesting that Loyola has the same marketing dynamic as Marist or Rita in terms of competing for student athletes." Simply because it is not similar, or as intense, does not mean that Loyola faces zero competition for student athletes, which is effectively what some posters have been saying.
I take exception to those posters, primarily sout' siders, who claim that Loyola has a monopoly on talented student athletes from the area in which it markets itself, which is exemplified by one poster making the outrageous claim that Loyola "can get anyone it wants between DLS and the Wisconsin border." To me, that indicates that
those posters are not aware of the competition that exists up north.
