Whether or not the rumor is true about Tubby coming and bringing Hudspeth with him as OC (most likely not true) he would be good to have on staff. Got some good Mississippi experience and connections.

so no I didnt take it too far....i would much rather have a guy that has strong connections elsewhere than strong local connections...why you might ask....because if the guy is worth a **** he will build solid relationships locally (MS) as time rolls along.....that then means you have a pretty strong expanded recruiting base thus more talent to choose from.....sheesh where do you peopel come from.....do more reading and less posting

box with a call to hire Derek Dooley, like I did. We need a youth movement at State as far as football is concerned. Look at these ole burned out farts leaving....Crooms, Tubs, Fulmer, Brooks, etc. We need to take a measured risk that results in a long time investment. We need energy, bloodlines,, and so forth. We ain't getting Petersen, and the others being mentioned just don't light it up. with excitement.....be visionaries for a change. just an opinion...now fire away at me....I've got thick skin.

I don't understand the fascination with Derek Dooley. I'd never even heard of the guy until this year and that's only because we played him. He may be the second-coming of Vince Lombardi for all I know - but I don't see anything more concrete than a mediocre record at a WAC outpost (I know, I know, we'd kill to be mediocre) and a connection to Saban or whoever.

We don't need an investment for the future. We need to invest in right now.

He also has a connection to VINCE DOOLEY who dominated in his day, hence he has good bloodlines and good connections. He is Vince's son.
He's not my first pick. If Peterson were named I think I would move back to Starkville from CO, but I could be excited about Derek. I think he has a future.

That's not to say some coaches' kids don't go on to be good coaches themselves, but that's not because their father was a good coach. If one inherited the ability to coach then we'd see the Bear's son dominating the college football landscape, Bill Walsh's kids would be dominating the NFL, and so forth and so on. The only reason we are talking about Dooley is because of his last name and he coached under Saban. The fact is, he cannot stand on his own right now. Neither Saban nor Vince Dooley are going to be coaching in Starkville if we hire Derek. Let's see the guy prove himself first.

Seriously, do any of you think that a call or email to Byrne will affect his decision making at all? Sure, I can understand an email complaining or praising about gameday atmosphere or something, but not about a super-secret coaching search. Since so many on here like to compare things to "the business world," isn't it fair to say that you would welcome feedback ("doing great," or "this area needs improvement") from customers, but that you would be insulted if lots of customers kept emailing you with recommendations on how to do your job?

Now you know these are gene junkies spilling over. The lake has too many swans right now and they need somewhere else to swim for a few days...

remember a young 32 yr old head coach at MState? Innovator, up and coming, MSU hero. Rocky Felker. How'd that work out for ya? I will take proven over "chance" that a young or old coach will some day be great.
