I never understood why we didn’t go after Lloyd last year. After it appeared that Oats wasn’t going to come he was my biggest want. Maybe because he’s a west coast guy?Regular Season:

“He only wanted Scott Drew because of his religion” - Every random message board poster, ignores national championship.Well, I can see why mitch wanted Scott Drew
Tommy Lloyd was probably the biggest surprise on the list to me.I never understood why we didn’t go after Lloyd last year. After it appeared that Oats wasn’t going to come he was my biggest want. Maybe because he’s a west coast guy?
Not ignoring it, not a random poster, and not impressed with Drew.“He only wanted Scott Drew because of his religion” - Every random message board poster, ignores national championship.
I’m not either but I also wasn’t saying the only reason Mitch wanted him is religion. I’d be about as excited having Scott Drew as coach as I would to have tofu breakfast everyday for the next 364 days. Those are two different things altogether. Not ignoring it, not a random poster, and not impressed with Drew.
Agreed. The same stupid "reasoning" is used to characterize Pope's hiring - because he's a religious person. Not saying his resume was/is great, either.I’m not either but I also wasn’t saying the only reason Mitch wanted him is religion. Same fans
1. Why didn’t we get a coach with a resume.
2.) Go after the coach with the best resume available? It’s because of his religion
His being a captain of a former championship team was clearly a big deal to Mitch. And I agree with fans that he didn’t have the resume to coach here. Once he was hired though, I’m committed to trying my best to give him a fair shake.Agreed. The same stupid "reasoning" is used to characterize Pope's hiring - because he's a religious person. Frustrating. Definitely a pattern that accompanies both seasons so far.A lot of coaches struggle with ranked teams. The issue for me is almost always getting down double digits.
Even when we have won it seems like we had to mount a furious comeback n some games.
I wasn't thrilled initially, but I desperately want him to succeed, for all of us. I don't want to see one of ours go down in flames. His being a captain of a former championship team was clearly a big deal to Mitch. This is accurate! Drew had 1 great season at Baylor which was also the Covid year where everything was out of whack.“He only wanted Scott Drew because of his religion” - Every random message board poster, ignores national championship.
Exactly. Like Mark Stoops and Billy Gillispie. And he hired a Mormon despite his conservative religious views that view it as outside of orthodoxy. Makes sense. This is accurate! Drew had 1 great season at Baylor which was also the Covid year where everything was out of whack.
Mitch wants a religious coach regardless of whether they can win or not.
Let's see BCG and Stoops square off in a bourbon drink offExactly. Like Mark Stoops and Billy Gillispie. And he hired a Mormon despite his conservative religious views that view it as outside of orthodoxy. Makes sense.
No...but losing by an average of 15 points over 11 games is a rough look. It's one thing to get beat. It's another to not be competitive. That's the concern for me.It’s almost like playing ranked opponents is difficult. Posting an almost .500 versus ranked teams doesn’t seem bad. Now, if it was 6-14 that would be something.
Very fair. My concern has been the lack of adjustments that allowed the gap to widen in those games.No...but losing by an average of 15 points over 11 games is a rough look. It's one thing to get beat. It's another to not be competitive. That's the concern for me.
This is another one of those instances where this board thinks a “problem” is UK coach specific when the reality is it’s something every coach and program struggled with. A lot of people here simply don’t know because they don’t follow other programs like the do UK (obviously).Wow, that list is surprising... you would think there would be more than 2 guys (Hurley, Scheyer) with better resumes vs ranked opponents.
It’s not exactly the record that bothers me because ranked teams are usually good, it’s how we lose.Regular Season:

Lots of parity now with NIL rosters. Nobody can stack talent in the wings as easy. Kansas used to have guys you didn’t know of that came out and were AA the next year almost every year.Wow, that list is surprising... you would think there would be more than 2 guys (Hurley, Scheyer) with better resumes vs ranked opponents.
Bruh I thought the same thing. Look at who stands out on this list. Mitch is a fool.Well, I can see why mitch wanted Scott Drew
Lloyd 2024-25What's missing is the average rank of the teams played or better yet broken down by favored or underdog
Not gonna research but I'm guessing Tommy Lloyd has beaten very few top 10 teams
Home/Away/Neutral would also be interesting
As it is, open to agenda
Also, breaking it down by Home, Away, Neutral would create greater context. What's missing is the average rank of the teams played or better yet broken down by favored or underdog

I brought up Lloyd and Oats as my top 2 coaches when it was evident Hurley and Jay Wright weren’t options and I was eviscerated on here for it . EVISCERATED I tell ya !I never understood why we didn’t go after Lloyd last year. After it appeared that Oats wasn’t going to come he was my biggest want. Maybe because he’s a west coast guy?

Hello Kitty is responsible for a lot of time wasted in my life:No that’s not how you do things.
Example, you find BCG’s record in the same timeframe as Pope and you put the records side-by-side, ignoring all context so that it sounds rational when you say Pope is the worst coach in the history of mankind. If you don’t do it precisely that way, you’re the problem. Pay attention to how things are done or the mob will be after you next.
Im still not completely back to 100%,lol.On this website? Say it ain’t so….
What does that mean lol?Hello Kitty is responsible for a lot of time wasted in my life:
