Seeing those numbers no way he is fired. He needs to be and the first call I make is to Memphis' Justin Fuente!

Is Eli Capiluto asleep at the switch or does he just not care? He's the guy who should be holding Mitch B's feet to the fire for these continual undeserved contract extensions for unproven head coaches.

^ Yes it is unforgivable Erik. And we are stuck, because no one is going to touch him watching this debacle. His name being mentioned for other jobs has to be his people putting that crap out there.

I bet there is a clause that we would owe him 18 mil if fired, but there is probably No Buyout if a school wants him. That's damn near Ponzi scheme.

I thought he didn't have a buyout. Guess I was wrong on that. I thought I remembered a bunch of people being upset when he got the extension bc there wasn't a buyout and people thought he could just walk away. Guess not

There isn't a buyout. He can go to any school and they don't owe UK anything.

UN-REAL. No wonder he looks so "ho-hum". Why have a heart attack when you have young kids and are set for life? UK Football: Making ordinary men multi-millionaires.

Well the question now becomes how much will UK lose from empty stadiums. The lost revenue from 2 seasons alone might cover it.

Say Mitch fires Stoops. Have you seen how many open jobs there are now? And what coach would come here if the last two coached were fired after three years?

My black cloud? You're calling random people names over a UK football game. Go take your meds, you need help.

If you don't like my opinions, ignore me if you can figure out how to do that.

Mitch will point back to the Brooks hire and remind us that it was year-4 when it clicked - write it down.

This is a big problem with the college sports arms race today. If your guy shows even a hint of doing well, and you don't sign him to a monster contract to lock him up, then your fan base riots.

My favorite example was Dan McCarney of Iowa State (and recently fired this year as HC of an awful North Texas team). He had a couple of 8-4 teams, beat Nebraska once or twice, and ISU knew he was a hot commodity. They actually disbanded the baseball program to free up enough money to keep him! As you may have imagined, a few years later they were back to mediocrity and had to buy him out. Now they have no baseball and no good football program.

Same could have happened to James Franklin if he'd accepted our $5M a year. Only a couple of dozen coaches are really sure things.

I realize that Franklin was more proven in the win column than Mark Stoops but wouldn't everyone have been upset if your AD had let Stoops walk after last year?

The thing is Phillip, I don't believe that contract would have stopped Stoops from leaving. It just locked UK in for a boatload of money. Stoops can leave without a buyout.

That is why Mitch needs to be fired right along with Stoops. He's just as incompetent as this coaching staff. There's no way in hell he can be allowed to make the next football coaching hire. The guy is a walking cluster_____!

Big picture, Barnhart has done a tremendous job at Kentucky. He's the best athletics directory UK has ever had (by far).

But yeah, the Stoops contract is nuts. How do you guarantee a guy that's never been a head coach before that much money? I mean, it would cost UK over $15 million right now IF they wanted to make a change.
