@marlon_humphrey: Out of all the head coaches I've talked to @CoachDanMullen gotta be the coolest/chillest one!

If he wants to change peoples minds about him as a recruiter

then he better land this guy. Otherwise, it's just another big time player he's failed to sign.

He's recruited as well as any other MSU coach, at least regarding HS players. There were many more MS kids leaving the state under Sherrill and Croom it seemed.

That's gotta be a troll like the NCAA letter to Mississippi. Everyone knows Mullen can't recruit.

Mullen probably called him and was like "Hey, do you see how ****** our secondary is? You'd start in game one, and we're playing USM so we'll TOTALLY win." Super chill.

B. McKinney say that pro scouts don't bother looking at the freshman all-SEC list.**

With ESPN salavating over TSUN, State fans should be thankful for the free publicity, even if he is just creating a market for himself.

With all due respect, the best football recruiter Mississippi State ever had was Bob Tyler and Dan Mullen has not and will not ever come close to that.

Those of us who lived through the Bob Tyler years will agree that he was a great recruiter at a difficult place to recruit. Larry Gillard would probably agree.

The 1st coach I remember was Jackie (yeah, I'm that young), and that guy has 90% of the MSU greats on his resume. Even if none of them worked out, he still managed to get some #1 player type recruits so in this argument they've got to be considered.

From what I've been able to piece together, Bob wore his faith on his sleeve. Jackie wore cheating on his sleeve. Seems like Freezus has been able to melt those two together.

Seems like Mullen gets a 5-star to talk about how awesome he is and how much he likes MSU every off-season before committing to Clemson/FSU/Bama/LSU. Hope it's different this time. The only reason I think we have an ounce of a chance is he's from Hoover which is close. Maybe he's one of those rare kids that sees Bama and the crowded roster and wants to step outside for a bit.

Tyler didn't wear his religion on his sleeve. He was the odds on favorite with Vaught, alumni and fans to get the OM job. OM inside politics selected a Kinard instead. Tyler took a job at Bama, then OC at State under Shira. He then was determined to show OM they made a mistake. He recruited very well at State, better than Sherrill did. There were as many OM fans that pulled for him even while he was at State. Then the powers that be, media and influential insiders at OM attempted to ruin him, and they did. Different era.

I came of age during the Felker Era. Pretty good recruiter himself, when his guys ran out, so did King Jackie's winning percentage, at least there at first.
