Looking past the ugly win I saw some interesting news on Twitter. Apparently, Goodman believes Bolden will commit to UK. This was tweeted by Chip Miller (@UKBIGBLUENATION).

That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. How many bigs do we need? 4 guards, 10 bigs
He may commit to UK, but I don't see it. It'll probably be a while before he decides. A lot can happen in that time span.

We will have the following bigs next year.
Marcus Lee
Bam Adebayo
Isaac Humphries
The Wood Chopper
Killeya Jones
Gabriel
And possibly Bolden???

I just don't see it. That's more depth down low than we had last year.

Lee won't be here but the point is valid . Lee has a better shot at leaving then Briscoe or even Ulis IMO are Lee is turning in double doubles almost every game and if he keeps that up with his size and athleticism he is a lock late first rounder .

the way Skal is playing, he can be here next year. :-D

While tongue and cheek and November, Skal is truly not ready for NBA. He should grow and progress this season as all do, but he really struggles with physical play. Even if NbA is small ball, gotta have some toughness and he's probably dealt with more toughness in his life than any of us - just doesn't have that fight on the court...yet.

in all honesty..i'm not really being tongue and cheek. He can grow...i don't doubt. But that dude has long ways to go. I mean LONG ways to go. THere's more to basketball than shooting, and i feel like him not playing competitive basketball the past couple years has really shown that difference. The boy can shoot better than Anthony FREAKING Davis. Unfortunately for basketball, there's a lot more.

Yeah he's not, because it's effing November...wonder what you would have said about KAT this time last year...

Dumbest post of the day, and that says a lot.

It's actually not that dumb. haha, i found it funny that you actually think it's the dumbest post of the day.

Don't take it so hard man. He's got long ways to go. Two years would do wonder for him...

It's actually really dumb. He's a top 3 projected draft pick. He will develop better in the NBA than he will in college, by nature of the NBA lifestyle vs college lifestyle.
Coming back next year, a year older (negative), in a stacked draft class (negative), just to spend less time refining his game than he would spend refining it in the NBA (huge negative) is flat out stupid.

Wow what a class this could turn out to be, unprecedented even by Cal's standards.

Before anyone flips out, I'm saying if we land Bolden and Simmons.

It's November so a top 3 draft projection at this stage is meaningless. If the season ended today and the draft being held in a few months there is no way he would be top 3. The three top picks are looking for immediate impact players which skal at this point is not. He would probably be a mid first rounder now maybe at best because of the huge upside but he does have a wats to go. Fortunately for him and us, the season is just underway with four full months of basketball left. Let's see how he develops before deciding his draft stock.

Not seeing it unless Cal is giving up on Humphries as a sophomore already, which I highly doubt. Only way I could see it happening is if Cal goes super-big next year with Wenyan at the 3. Bam goes to the 4 spot (with SKJ giving support), and Bolden/Humphries compete at the 5.

I guess it could happen from a minutes perspective but who in their right mind thinks Bolden would go for it when Kansas has tons of minutes next year in their otherwise emaciated frontline?

I think you see my good sense...

It only makes sense if Bolden or Allen head to Kansas at this point. I mean, if you strike out on those two and Jackson heads elsewhere, it would probably go down as Self's worse class ever, and I don't see that happening.

Besides Simmons, can you name which guys you would take over Skal right now?

The plan all along has been for Gabriel to play small forward

Would we even have a scholarship? or would we have to crean mulder?
The conspiracy theorist in me wants to think this is perhaps why we won't accept Simmons commitment.

No. Top 3 picks are typically guys with the most upside. If they can contribute at a high level now, that's a bonus.
