Buzz and Neds bbq but one of the best little places for southern food is Mama Js but get there early cuz that place gets packed - make sure to leave room for a giant slice of cake.
Mama Js just closed down for good about 4 weeks ago. Buzz & Neds is nowhere close to Highland Springs High School. Mexico restaurant is just down the street from the school if you want Mexican. The only barbecue place close to HS closed during the pandemic too.
I’ve got a Buddy that knows every place to eat in every part of Richmond, I’ll check with him in the morning and post a few suggesrions.

There's lots of places near Highland Springs High School. There's Mexico Restaurant on Williamsburg Rd. 5213 Williamsburg Rd, Sandston, VA 23150, www.mexico-restaurant.com/sandston-va/ There's a great place in Sandston (only about 2 or 3 miles from the school) Called Fat Boys. There is Hillbilly Red's BBQ near Fat Boys... We have been having Hawks BBQ coming with their truck, inside our new football stadium as one of our concessions. Over on Laburnum Ave. (White Oak Shopping Center) There are several seafood restaurants + Longhorn Steak House, Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, TGIFriday's, and there's plenty more.

I was going to suggest White Oak too; a variety of places up and down the street
Does your cardiologist know that you know all of those places to eat?
Would you be so kind as to bring a little of that wonderfully cool West Virginia mountain air with you please sir? I’m sick of hot and humid.
Wow, Mama Js closing down is huge disappointment, easily one of the best spots in Richmond.
It's nothing fancy, just really good food! It's only 5 minutes from the school.
Fat Boy was his Chocolate Retriever's name that passed. Their French fries are thinly slice potatoes, a tad thicker than potato chips. Delicious! Everything including desserts are made from scratch. He even makes the buns for the burgers!
