We don't even have delayed school for 5-8 inches of snow.

Love, Edinboro.

If the refs and the teams are there, I think they go. Tweaking the time based on the storm is certainly a possibility. Our guys could shovel the whole campus, Cenzo style, and still win.
I thought Brands was the one who did the snow shoveling...and a lot of good it did him.

it's not the roads you have to worry about. it's the maryland drivers flipping their cars, or abandoning them on bridges.
Lived in MD for about seven years and didn’t realize at the time how moderate the weather was. Now we live in the snow belt in NEOH, 90-some inches of snow so far this year. 100”+ last season. 2-4” is a solid dusting. The first couple of snowfalls every year bring out the AWD guys that thinks they’re invincible but eventually they settle down.
It’s all about the TIRES. Get Good snow tires. 😉

The College Park weather forecast as of this morning is calling for 8-12 Saturday PM and another 8-12 on Sunday. This will be a massive storm, it appears, that would cripple the DC area if accurate.
I lived in the DC area for 49 years. If that forecast comes true EVERYTHING will be shut down. Team and officials may get there on Saturday for a Sunday dual but leaving the area is NOT going to happen. In fact getting to the arena (since neither the team or officials will be staying at the arena) will be a major problem. DC area does not handle any snow greater than 2 inches very well. 8-12 inches two days in a row closes everything.

This was my go to saying when I lived in Ca. Idaho is not much different though.

I live in the Southtowns snow belt outside Buffalo, but Geauga, Ashtabula, and Lake counties (along with Erie in PA) are legit. Hope you’re not getting pounded too bad.

The tires makes so much more difference than your drive wheels(where and how many). Regardless, like half the cars around here are AWD and maybe 15% have proper winter tires. Almost every winter accident here (Utah) will inevitably be a Subaru with all-seasons. Just bought new Blizzaks on steelies for my FWD Ford Maverick in November, and of course we've barely even got cold and essentially zero snow since.

Being as visiting team and officials would all travel in on Saturday, which I believe has no weather concerns I would anticipate the match happening on Sunday. I spent nearly a decade working in a B1G athletic department and for indoor sports that was pretty much the guidance - if both teams and officials have made it to town than game on. Fans can make the decision they feel is best for them and take up any grievances with the home team's ticket office; that's not conference HQ's concern.

In my experiences, I can recall exactly two times weather affected one of my indoor events (I worked in facility/event management). Once, a non-televised (B1G+) event was shifted 3 hours earlier on a Saturday due to anticipated storm hitting later on that Saturday. The other a non-televised (B1G+) event was pushed back because of travel bans by the state (visiting team bus wasn't permitted to drive on the highways to town) so they had to come in day of. Being as the Maryland dual is on Big Ten Network, I would expect almost 0% chance it gets moved unless officials or Penn St cannot get to College Park on Saturday.
I would think under normal circumstances if the team is in vicinity that it will be wrestled. However if State or City traffic emergency is declared that would change things .

Yes, I’m familiar with that area. Wonderful people there. Was also part of my sales territory in 1990-1993 and I don’t know if i ever saw the sun while I was in Syracuse in the winter... We lived in Conesus Lake area for three years prior to moving to ‘Cleveland’.
There was no internet as such back then in 1993/94 so the Rand McNally Atlas had to do. Rochester NY listed average snowfall @ 110” per year and Cleveland showed 88” annual snowfall. I said to my wife, ‘we’re moving in the right direction'! We actually live in a small town east of the lake, in the heart of the snowbelt. Another one of my great calls…

You’ve got the right tires. A friend of mine has owned probably 150 cars in his lifetime and years ago, for snow he said, ‘Bridgestone Blizzaks’. We recently sold our Subaru Outback (wanted the 2026 model but it kept getting delayed) so in the meantime we bought another brand and the spare set of Blizzak snows don’t fit, so I’ll have to find another home for them. The Blizzaks you’ve got on hand can be used as ‘insurance' I suppose. We’ve got to get out that way…

Chardon is the snow capital of Ohio. Beautiful little town. Geauga county is great. I lived in the “low rent” portion of the county for a while. Hopefully the Buckete state has treated you well.

I once cut thru NW DC to Crystal City with under 1 inch of snow on the ground, and the streets were completely empty. Not even taxis or delivery cars or police. And that was around 7 pm on a Friday.

It was actually the easiest drive ever in the District, even if it felt like a graveyard.

The PSWC has a bus that's supposed to leave at 7 am from State College on Sunday. If the forecasts are correct it could be a risky trip. On top of that I'm coming from Williamsport. Coin flip right now.

Small world. Yep, we live about 10 minutes south of Chardon in an Amish community (we’re not Amish, I can’t ‘raise a beard’ and we use electricity) and we get amount the same amount of snow as they do. We love it here - except for the first four/ five months of winter. Summers are beautiful.

If it’s the 4th largest Amish community in the US (Middlefield) that’s where I used to live. Nice place. If not, all the other little places around there aren’t bad either.

Hell with discussing the weather, in your former capacity would you have had the Big10 tickets out by now?

You are correct about Maryland, with the exception of Garrett County, Maryland's farthest west county. I lived there from 2010 - 2012 and it snows there....and a lot! Allegany County just east of Garrett gets a lot too, average of about 30" annually, but much less than Garrett County's 110" annually - wrong side of the mountains ;)

"But why is Garrett County so much snowier than the rest of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia? While Maryland averages 10.6 inches a year [sic] (I think more like 20") - with West Virginia clocking in around 30 inches and Pennsylvania around 20-- Garrett County smashes those averages with an average yearly snowfall of 110 inches. The winter of 2009-2010 even saw a record snowfall of 262 inches! No wonder Garrett County has such a snowy reputation!" Link: Garrett Co Snow (2017)

Depending on how this storm develops or doesn’t develop, I may have 4-8 tickets available for Sunday’s dual.

Burton, OH. Yes, not bad at all. If you’re ever in the area, send me a heads up and we can talk some PSU wrestling.

Definitely, I just meant the Big Ten or the schools aren't going to do it unless local officials mandate it
