Not so sure we win this one now. Thought we could a few weeks back but now it looks doubtful. Army might be our only win. I will be attending all three but it will be with great reservation.

If we had Maryland's schedule we'd have their same record too:

Richmond
Bowling Green
West Virginia
Michigan
Ohio State
Penn State
Iowa
Wisconsin

Their margin of defeat in their 5 Big Ten losses is 15 points.
Our margin of defeat in our 5 Big Ten losses is 29 points.

Currently we are worse than Maryland--and THEY fired their coach.

"Army might be our only win"
With Flood as RU's HC , Army probably will look like they did in the 40s when Earl Blaik was their HC .

As I said in a thread I started earlier Army has an opportunity to KILL us throwing out of the triple-option. Together with the fact that our D is NOT experienced against this type of O, and scares me hanging to play "assignent" D, oh boy. They should have TE's and FB's wide-open all day long. Hopefully we can simply out score them.

Should be a decent game. RU vs Maryland is now up to $14 on Stubhub (it was $10 for weeks)

Probably the Mutant Ninja Turtle fans smelling victory are buying up tickets to the game.
Look for the Children of the Corn to forget about their poor season and plan a victory celebration
after the game, when they play at HPSS.

A loss is a loss. They lost those games. Woo, so they're slightly less bad than us against other teams. It means literally nothing in determining our matchup against them

And if Carroo plays do you think Army will stop him? We need him back. Never have I seen a kid so important to a team.

Listen, I understand there is no "transitive property" in college football, but, there IS a huge difference in competing and NOT competing, hence, my point stands.

You sound like me about RU's opponents awhile back ago ( winnable game).
I might be less optimistic because I feel , if there's a way to lose: Flood will find it.
My winnable game outlook has faded, even against teams RU should have a chance to beat.

They're not slightly less bad in those losses:

vs Michigan
Maryland: 28-0
Rutgers: 49-16

vs Ohio State
Maryland: 49-28
Rutgers: 49-7

vs Penn State
Maryland: 31-30
Rutgers: 28-3

vs Wisconsin
Maryland: 31-24
Rutgers: 48-10

They're losing. We're getting embarrassed. They're crappy, we're much worse.

We can have good memory that we beat Arkansas the last 2 years we played them who is good now, destroyed North Carolina last year and they are leading the costal division 8-1 and we beat Washington State last year.

I didn't realize one team losing and another team losing by less made one team better than the other. I mean jeez, let's let the two teams play each other before making judgements. I can see if one team beat an opponent that the other lost to but games in which both teams lost? C'mon, really?!

Don't fool yourself RU. MD is playing more competitive football against common opponents. RU should be concerned that we win only one more game unless that facilitates getting rid of this coaching staff.

Maryland had michigan, wisconsin and penn state at home. We would have been more competitive against all three of those teams at home - e.g. Michigan St.

Maryland - RU is the battle of the have nots.

....has now performed MUCH better against OSU, PSU, and Wisconsin, than we did. Much, much better, despite (what we have constantly been reminded of here) losing a lot of "important" starters from last season.

Big trouble this program is in my friends.
And with an interim coach for 2 of those 3!

Yea games have been competitive but we keep finding ways to lose.

At the end of the year unless we beat you and Indiana we are compete garbage as far as our record goes in the books and no one cares if you were blown out in those or lose those close.

Just look at Maryland vs. PSU games and Rutgers vs. PSU games.

We were SO much more competitive with PSU compared to Rutgers. We were favored in so many of those games, had the higher "ranked" team, we were a team regularly going to bowls, but were 1-37-1 going into last year.

Show me a someone who loses close, you are show me a loser.

Maryland may be slightly less bad in their games against common opponents but they're still bad. They tend to hang around with opponents in the first half and then fall apart late. Perry Hills makes a lot of poor decisions but is pretty mobile for his size. I think he'll give Rutgers D problems. Also, Wisconsin struggled on the ground against MD with Clement out again.

Maryland is not good but there coaching staff is at least keeping them competitive and putting them in situation where they can possibly win games...a stark contrast to our staff that seems overwhelmed in preparing for any team over 500 and equally overwhelmed in trying to keep up with the pace of the game. Its nothing new with this staff.

RU can beat Maryland and even Nebraska because Flood has proved he can be teams sub 500 but what does that mean when you go 2-22 against the rest. Still if I had to bet I think Nebby takes us to the woodshed and Marylands annexes their only Big 10 win this year

The Nebraska that showed up last night beats us handily.

Now, is last night their high water mark for the year (much like MSU was for us)? Maybe. But if last night is any indication of them buying in and "figuring it out" they are going to muddhole us.

Nebraska, for the most part, has played much better than we have this season, regardless of records. They played Wisconsin 100x better, beat MSU, lost 4 games on the final drive, IIRC, including 2 on Hail Mary's. I figured they'd whip us, prior to yesterday, but now they're going to come in with a ton of confidence, to play a team with, literally, zero.

I could easily see us losing to army. We gett knocked around again next and I would think the fight in that group will be just about gone if it's not already. Army will always fight to the end regardless of the record. Could be their seniors last home game.
