"After several in depth conversations with [athletic director] Damon [Evans], I have decided that the best thing for Maryland Basketball, myself and my family is to step down, effective immediately, as the head coach of Maryland Basketball," Turgeon said in a statement. "I have always preached that Maryland Basketball is bigger than any one individual. My departure will enable a new voice to guide the team moving forward."

I don’t think I would leave Danny Manning in charge very long, evidently it was Turgeon’s idea to leave now not Maryland’s.

How in the hell does a coach walk away from a decent team 5 games into the season ? Doesn’t make sense. More to come I guess.

A couple MD fans on the main board seemed to really dislike him.

Maybe fan disapproval was high, don't really follow them too closely?

They added a couple sought after transfers agree it did seem like a quick exit.
