How has he been with Leach this long. His group is the worst group on the team. Was terrible last year. Is this going to be worse than the country club? I know part of this is Mikes dumb philosophy of the wide splits. But effort out if that bunch is ****. The technique is also ****.

That excuse is a a cop out. Mullens second year with hev didn’t have “his recruits” yet we still won 9 games

Its not a cop out if you understand the difference between run blocking and pass blocking. I am with you on the idea that after a season and an off season you should be able to improve technique and footwork. Something has to improve. Mullens offense was made for road graders. Holding your ground and picking up stunts is very difficult for these guys for whatever reason. But if you watched Clemson last night their O line was getting smoked regularly by stunts too.

Miller joined the WSU staff in 2018, and their OL got way better. WSU was basically around 3-4 sacks per game allowed in Leach’s first six seasons, but in 2018-2019 they only allowed 1-1.5 sacks per game. WSU led the Pac12 in fewest sacks allowed per game in both of Miller’s years there, which is amazing considering they threw the ball way more than anyone else.

Leach says Miller is the best OL coach (at least in terms of teaching the air raid) he has ever been around. Can he get it done here? I hope so. Any WSU fan you talk to will tell you he is a great OL coach, and we appear to be recruiting at a pretty solid level so far. Sometimes it takes time on the OL more so than any other position, so hopefully we get it figured out. The fourth quarter was better yesterday.

It's one thing to physically be unable to pass block but the inability to recognize stunts and twists is coaching. Guys run right by us and we don't even look at them.

It’s easier to transition to a bunch of road graders though.

Im a little worried though about the nature of OL produced in MS as it relates to Leach’s system. We’re not going to see a ton of 6’5 290 lbs guys that can move. Especially if we want that at OT and OG. Even if we do, they likely have limited pass blocking experience. We have some rather highly recruited MS kids on this OL. I’m a little concerned it’s just a round peg in a square hole.

We’re just going to have to get them from out of state. It is what it is. If they can get OOS linemen to play at WSU, then they damn sure better be able to get them to come here.

This is my concern. It shouldn't take 5 "agile" guys to block 3 La Tech defensive linemen. Or any team's 3 defensive linemen for that matter.

Yeah 5 block 3 all the time on every team in America and those teams dont even have the luxury of seeing it every down

This is the true concern.

And further, this bunch may be the best we will see. It’s been a transition for a few years now. Lot of 4 stars on that line.
