Real needle mover here. Also love the "big on commitment" theme when he broke his initial commitment to JSU to get himself and daddy a pay day.

Yes, I'll be negative for a guy who should not see the floor except in blowouts this year. Wake me up when we land Freeman, Stokes, or Momcilovic.

I think the Zoom and Alex Wilkins signings were great. Not excited for this. I will be excited for Donnie freeman and tyran stokes as well. Signing Mason is fine as long as he doesn’t play. But I think Jason crowes dad had a better chance of saving popes job than this hire.
Saul Smith, anyone?

If you watch his videos, he can handle the ball, unlike another player that just transfered to the pacific northwest, his jumpshot looks pure also. It can't hurt having an NBA all star working with him.
I watched his videos. You are correct. He has never missed a shot, committed a turnover, committed a foul. He reminds me a lot of Steph curry shooting, magic Johnson passing, Kylie Irving ball handling, abd Gary Payton defense. Will probably be the best Kentucky player of all time.

Why do you have to be a smartass? The kid looks like he can play & people are acting like he's hot garbage.

Travis Perry didn't play against any competition, do you know anything about that region Lyons County plays in lol? Him being ranked a 4* is a joke, not very athletic at all.
So you are telling me Lyon County didn’t win the state championship? You are telling me Trent Noah was no competition?

That’s not true. Perry was a really good high school player. And he played against a lot of good competition. Not to mention, he was playing well at the end of Ole Miss’s season against the likes of Alabama and Arkansas. He’s still just going to be a Junior.

Come on dude, the talent level of high school basketball in this state is not all that great. Trent Noah is not even SEC caliber if we're being honest. Give it a rest man, I get it, you think Mason Williams is hot garbage & I think you're wrong, I think he has the potential to be good.

I disagree about the high school competition he played against. He was good in high school because he was better than all of those kids. It doesn't matter now, he's at Dayton, he wasn't talented enough to get major minutes at Kentucky. My response was to the Anon dude who basically wants to trash on Mason Williams.

Mason Williams is a player the entire board should get behind. Son of a 13 year NBA veteran who had shooting splits of 43.4/37.8/87.1

Obviously there have been a ton of sons of former NBA players who never succeeded like their father, but this young man has the pedigree to develop in to one of the top PG in college basketball.

Mo WIlliams had 3990 assists in his career and 1849 turnovers for an over 2:1 asst/to ratio. Not bad for a man who averaged 29.2 minutes per game. Will he be here long enough for us to benefit from his development is obviously to be seen. Im actually excited to watch him grow as a player.

He's competing against Zyon Hawthorne and Jerone Morton.

If we don't get a legit 3rd guard he's gonna get minutes whether we like it or not.
I think our backcourt is full. I believe Kam can play some 2G and both Diallo and Wilkins can play PG. those three are the primary rotational pieces for the backcourt. I think Morton will be a solid backup and Williams could be as well. Done.

Mason won’t have the immediate impact or flash that Acaden Lewis would have had, but will be a traditional solid PG who hopefully will be able to knock down the open three and control the ball. He appears to have college level strength, so I don’t think we see him abused like Jasper was occasionally abused last year.

Kam can't dribble in traffic. He's more suited to play small ball 4 than try to play the 2. Kam's not even a slasher at the 3, I'm not sure what makes you think he could play the 2.

I desperately want to manifest Kam as a 2 so I get it but it's just a non-starter IMO. He's not a good enough secondary ball handler or playmaker, he doesn't even create his own shots well! And we have no wing depth either so that puts TONS of pressure on Hawthorne to be READY. Maybe N'Diaye can slide up (I don't love it, need his length and reboanding at 4 since we only have an undersized McBride and Potter as backup bigs.) Or I suppose Noah which if Noah is the answer to any guestion about this team Im even more worried about us.

The guard depth is what it is and what it is as of now is Morton/M.Williams/Z.Hawthorne. The wing depth is literally only B.Hawthorne and I think planning for him to play like 25+ minutes is a huge ask (if he's coving for Kams SG minutes). This bench is just not looking good at all. We're thin everywhere!

But hey I love Kam so maybe he makes the leap, unfortunately he'd have to make like 3 different simultanous leaps to play SG beyond just spot minutes IMO.

My hope is that Hawthorne, NDiaye, and KWill can all play the WF. When McBride is on at PF, if NDiaye can play the WF, that can give UK some excellent length for rebounding and places 2 stretch forwards on the floor at the same time. Same with Hawthorne and McBride. I see NDiaye also at the PF when McBride is off the floor. I think we have some talented ball handlers and distributed in Wilkins and Diallo, and possible MWill. So, I think Kam can play big at 2G. I also am hopeful for Morton. He is reputed to be a combo who can defend. Hopefully he is good enough to expect real minutes.

Travis Perry was a 4 star kid ranked higher than Mason.
Travis did not play Nike EYBL, he played Adidas 3SSB. It certainly is not as prestigious, but Perry averaged 14.4 points and 4.2 assists. Travis has not averaged more than 1 assist per game in his college career. Mason averaged 15.4 PPG and 4 assists at arguably a higher level. Travis was more a small college combo guard than pure PG. Mason is considered a pure PG.
