I bet tiger places somewhere in the 12 to 18 range.
I like Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson for whatever reason. Then next is scheffler, even though he is number 1 in the world.

Tiger is great for golf but I'm not sure he will even make the cut even if he decides to play, he said he plans on playing as of yesterday. If he had never been in the accident and was playing competitive golf I would say yes he has a great shot at the Masters but played competitively during his recovery. It's going to be a grind walking those opening two days not to mention four days even for the healthy players.

You go with who's keeping their drives in the fairway and who's chipping and putting the best. Augusta may just get a break from the rain during this Masters but it's not getting a break from wind and that has an effect on everyone. I look at players who can flight and control the ball and putt to be in contention in other words wind players.

I hope so! I bet him to finish 55th or better.

The rest of the field should want him to make the cut. (well maybe not the guys that just miss the cut) Its just better for golf. It will also take a lot of the eyes off of them, as most of the eyes will be on Tiger. Many of them can just go play golf.

Im sure its documented somewhere, but he played several practice rounds last week to prepare. He plans on playing, unless he suffers an unexpected setback. Now I would expect him to play his best golf in rounds 2 and 3 (assuming he makes the cut). Will probably start a little slow, and may fade off at the end because of endurance.

If he makes the cut and I think he will...and if he is anywhere close to the final pairing on Sunday...it will be bonkers.

I can't see him going out there if he thinks he will embarrass himself. I think you are right, there might be some setback that forces him out but I could see him making the cut.

Golf is just better when Tiger is involved. He's the Dale Earnhardt of the links! It will be interesting to see if he can compete, but honestly golf is the sport where over-the-hill guys take spots in fields for years after they are competitive.

Don't ever count Tiger out. He knows the course, has been chipping and putting a lot and if the rest of his game comes around even a little, he will probably make the cut. He knows everything about Augusta and you don't have to be a bomber to win at this course. I doubt he wins or is even in contention, but I think if he plays, he will surprise a lot of people.

Like I said he's great for the game but I'm not sure how really healthy he really is. Yes you don't have to be a bomber of the ball to play Augusta but you most definitely have to control your ball flight and control it. I would be happy if he can somehow make the cut but I'm not convinced he can or will.

I hope I'm wrong but we shall see, hey even the great Jack Nicklaus won when he was an old man at the age of 46 so yes you can never count tiger out. I'm amazed Tiger can even get around after the accident that was so bad that he was in danger of losing a leg so good for him and golf.

Watching Tiger use a club as a cane in his practice rounds shows his current condition. Will not see him playing this weekend.

Revealing my limited knowledge, didn’t they really lengthen Augusta a few years ago and open it up a lot more for the “bombers?”

Tiger has said his game won't beat him, his legs might. Augusta, for those who have not been there, is a tough walk even for a well-healed athlete. Tiger is hurting and thus the walk itself may defeat him due to his bad leg/feet.

They are always tweaking a little bit here and there. This year they added a little distance to 11, 15 and 18. They opened up 11 a little on the right so guys maybe able to bail out there a little.

The one change they are kind of talking about is adding some length to 13. These guys now are hitting mid to short irons into this par 5. They didn't have the room to before, but sounds like they have cleared out some space where they could make the 2nd shot a little risker.

Now with the weather this year, it looks like Thursday, Friday and Saturday are going to pretty windy so Augusta may have some teeth this year.

That bail out on 11 will help a lot of players. You can still try to get it up on the right side vs. just playing it out at a larger distance due to fear of going into the lake.

There was a tournament with his son a few months back and he was hitting some good shots. As long as he's healthy, I think he'll be competitive with the field.

Unless he reaggravates I'd say that's a pretty decent bet. Pretty weak field at the masters compared to most big tournament fields
What? The Top 50 in the world and past winners of major championships plus a few others.

Look at the players, the PGA, the US Open. They all have bigger fields with more competitive golfers top 2 bottom.

Of all the majors it has the weakest field. Plus many of those top 50 players have never won a major or at least not a masters.

Of all the majors it's by far the easiest cut to make for Tiger.
Im not saying it's easy. He just has less guys he needs to beat. No Ben Curtis types coming out of nowhere to win.

Not better players at the top (top 70) - it's the same. I will give you the depth of field comment, but Tiger doesn't play to make the cut.

Tiger clearly limping on down hill slopes. I’m rooting for him but not a “healthy start”.

Got Scheffler and DeChambeau to lead after first round.

DeChambles is coming off injury and looks terrible this year. I doubt he is at the top, but could be wrong.

I used to not like Tiger until I realized how much better golf is with him in it. I hope he makes the cut and stays competitive but he looks like he is in pain all the time.

Phil Mickelson's head must be exploding. Relentless attention hound that he is, I'm sure Mickelson was counting on his absence being a huge story. With Tiger playing, nobody gives a rip.
