I get Memphis isn’t for everyone, but to load the list with NC and SC while leaving out Memphis and surrounding areas makes this list trash. Poll after poll shows Carolina style behind Memphis, TX, and KC.

I overpaid for some Terry Black’s Brisket and got a beef rib as well this week. It’s alright, but I don’t get the appeal and $120 for lunch for 3 people seemed a little excessive. We tried to go to Interstellar but didnt want to stand in a line in the rain for 2 hours for BarBQ.
Bless His heart, but REAL BBQ is pork. Beef doesn’t qualify as BBQ, as much as I love beef. I’ve been to two places I saw on this vid, both in Northwest Alabama. Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur ain't that great. Bunyun’s in Florence on the other hand might be the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. That place is awesome, and it checks every box you want to see from a top notch BBQ joint. It’s a true hole in the wall BBQ Temple.
Since I moved to NC, I keep that opinion to myself, but I agree. Plus, NC is really sensitive about using the term BBQ for any meat that isn't pork. I'm from Louisiana, anything you throw on the grill can be barbecue.

When I lived in NC after grad school, my boss was from the Lexington, NC area. I'd walk by his office and just whisper Memphis style where he could hear it. He'd then go on a tangent about various NC styles to whoever happened to be sitting in his office. I derailed many a meeting getting him on the topic of bbq. Ah... to be an obnoxious 20 something again.
