Your post seems to mention that Clarkston doesn’t play anyone. Clarkston was the Michigan Class A Champion in Michigan two out of the last three years. Two of the members of the state championship teams are playing for MSU now. Foster Loyer and Thomas Kithier. Nicholson succeeded Kithier on last years team which I believe was very good and this is his senior year.Tough competition. Shoot for fourth!

If only his name were Tacko, then we'd really be on to something! Now listed at 7'1", had 27 rebounds in win last weekend and name is being mentioned as potential Michigan HS player of year candidate.
His size reminds me of Vince Scott (ducks)While I think the transition for him to the college level will be a very big change (and most likely a RS candidate) - i think he has some raw size and athleticism different from anyone at NU in a long time, maybe ever?
How quickly you forget Kyle Rowley. While I think the transition for him to the college level will be a very big change (and most likely a RS candidate) - i think he has some raw size and athleticism different from anyone at NU in a long time, maybe ever?

Will be interesting to see. After the way this season is going, with what’s shaping up to be a very bad overall record, I wonder if Collins can afford to redshirt anyone who could play impact minutes.
With the portal, grad transfer option and "transfer mania" being what it is, I'm not sure I'd redshirt anybody these days. Why invest four years in a kid so he can go off and play his senior year somewhere else?tough to say. would it be better if the two centers this year were young with pardon and CCC was red-shirting jones? will year 5 better for jones if he had vs. what he is getting this year? it pardon didn't play halfway through his freshman year he'd be on the team still. nicholson could be the same way. 5-10 minutes now vs. 25 in year 5?
Because you have confidence in further positive development of your program — both on-court results and culture. With the portal, grad transfer option and "transfer mania" being what it is, I'm not sure I'd redshirt anybody these days. He added 20 lbs and is a candidate for Michigan's Mr. Basketball per the Detroit News article
(anyone know what's going with the Detroit Free Press....did they return to 7 days/week printing)

With Nicholson coming, not sure not having Jones for a 5th year really hurts that muchtough to say. would it be better if the two centers this year were young with pardon and CCC was red-shirting jones? will year 5 better for jones if he had vs. what he is getting this year? it pardon didn't play halfway through his freshman year he'd be on the team still. nicholson could be the same way. 5-10 minutes now vs. 25 in year 5?
He is signedHe’s signed right? No chance that MSU or UM poach him now is there?

Interesting thought.
I think Collins has only lost one underclassman that he recruited, IIRC.
The article also says he's now 7'1" tall......He added 20 lbs and is a candidate for Michigan's Mr. Basketball per the Detroit News article

What's the honor? it doesn't say.a nice honor even if not voted in
A big part of that is how well you can continue to recruit. While Bigs do tend to do better RS, if you recruit well enough, it does not matter. And with all the injuries that occur these days, good chance you will still get to RS them later.Because you have confidence in further positive development of your program — both on-court results and culture.
Falzon and Ash knew they wouldn’t see the court. Benson would have, but he knew he couldn’t compete.
To me, Nicholson shows too much upside (granted, I’ve only read) to sit next season. That said, if Jones and Young can carry the load (jury’s still out, of course) it’s not the worst thing.
If Pardon didn’t play as a freshman, I’m not sure he takes the team to the dance as a sophomore.
And if Jones/ Young can develop more into a PF as well, you still get to get everyone plenty of minutesWill be interesting to see. McDonald's All-American nominees. What's the honor? it doesn't say.
Are there any previous good NU big men that he compares too? Obviously Esch would be #1 but who else? Pardon? Olah? Rankin? Morris? Ruklick? Pitts? Finally had a chance to do some homework on the big guy. And I think he’s got a chance to be good. Really good.
Very good hands for a young big. Runs very well. Will have good foot work with coaching and repetitions. Has a relatively broad view and solid understanding of the game. Will get much larger and stronger over the next couple of years. Really just scratching the surface at this tender age. Has as much or more upside to grow and make an impact as any new recruit I can recall in my 40+ years of following NU hoops recruiting.
As with all of these newcomers I have no idea what kind of mental game he’s bringing to Evanston. But I see the physical tools and raw skills to project a strong starter by his junior year at 7 foot plus and 250+ lbs. Could become special if he develops offensively and plays with serious intent.
Collins has done well in getting Beran, Jones, Buie, Nicholson and Berry of late. But still needs a strong 2021 class to complete the task of reloading a roster in need of more good players.
