Cons: program building and player development
- Ives was his first recruit. Now going on his 4th season here. Can hardly crack the depth chart. Has 22 carries to his career.
- Cam Lenhardt recommitted to Nebraska after Rhule. Phenomenal freshman talent. Ghost as a sophomore. AWOL as a junior.
- Barney...not much progression this season. Relatively same stats.
- Offensive line...liability all 3 years under Rhule. The "we're gonna win the Joe Moore Award" grass fairies.
- WR play....devoid of production and consistency.
- Mekhi Nelson. "can start at any big ten program" 16 carries to his career. 3.6 yards per carry.
- Rex Guthrie. "future NFL player" exposed. targeted. picked on.
- Jeff freaking Sims. Mr. "sunday player". Mr. "NFL QB with NFL arm". FBI needs to look into Sims for prop bets during his time here.
- Emmett Johnson. Expect me to believe Emmett magically became the beast he is this year while being forced down under Dowdell and Rahmir? He's always been a stud. Rhule AND Barthel AND Satterfield can all go pound sand for this one. Aggregious.
- Elijah 'feel good story' Jeudy. Not a fan of walk-ons at all, but a walk-on should have played over him.
- Riley Van Poppel. Did this dude do anything last offseason?
- The entire DL. The "we're gonna break sack records" band of degenerates. 4 games with 0 sacks (1/3 of our season!!) 4 games with 1 sack. WE HAD 8 GAMES WHERE WE HAD 4 TOTAL SACKS!!!
- Offensive Coordinator. Hired Dana to take over the offense. Offense added 5.8 points per game and 13.8 yards per game. What an improvement.
Pro's: Nice guy only redeeming quality....... but Fired immediately for cause

What cause? Unless something like the Sandusky scandal happens, Matt Rhule will be entitled to all compensation according to his contract.

You lost me with the Pritchett and Raiola criticism. The problem with Raiola is largely our expectations. That said, if a con for a head coach is his loyalty to players and assistants, maybe in the long run that isn’t a terrible trait. By all accounts Rhule is a fair and well liked coach. Let’s hope he can build on what he’s done thus far. He knows it’s not been good enough yet.
With EJ he has delivered to some degree on running the ball. As I recall he also talked about being a big physical team that played great defense. I think he has to rethink the 3-4 if he can’t find interior guys who demand double teams.
Rhule is a freakin joke. And the extension a bigger joke.
The only credit I’ll give him is he did bring in Dana pretty quick, though what he is asking him to run doesn’t really work great. Have Sana run his old offense, or get a new power running OC.
Butler is not a great DC from what i see, but someone noted that the 3-3-5 is not his and if so let him run what he fvckin wants

Excellent post. It took Dana being hired to get EJ playing time. Wonder how many other impact players are buried on the depth chart because their position coach is too dunder headed to see the difference. I will be you 5 bucks there are more.
Cons: he truly doesn't know enough about football to be a football coach. He doesn't work hard enough. For a self styled CEO, he has little to no executive abilities.

Pros - He is great at PR and can handle press conferences with embarrassing himself. But if you win most of your games you don’t need to be so good at PR.
Cons - Thinks he is great at anything else besides preaching and having to be forced to reconsider his decisions frequentl.

With the number of coaches getting canned and with the amount of $$$$ still owed on a contract, it doesn't seem like Nebraska should have any trouble doing the same after next season if there isn't notable improvement.
Between wealthy donors and the TV money B1G schools are getting, I think HCMR gets one more year.
