This is a JUCO guy from East Central, and he is rated a 4* as a receiver. Supposedly runs 4.4 speed. Also, Mullen visited him in his house yesterday, and apparently made an impression. So, we could have a decent core of receivers yesterday if we land him, McRae returns, and throw Robinson into the mix

Don't forget Arceto Clark. He gained some valuable experience this past year.

I think Wade Bonner is going to play into the picture as well. He has talent and can create some mismatches. But I don't know if Mullen will move him back to defense.

Mullen also met Larry Weems for the first time last night before the introduction. They had talked on the phone briefly, but last night they got to talk about 20 minutes before Mullen's intro. They spoke afterward, as well.

Mullen will be back on Sunday to visit w/ Tyler Russell in his home and with his parents. Mullen met Tyler's mom & dad last night, but couldn't discuss recruiting - only cordial "nice to meet you" type stuff. Tyler's parents seemed very happy about what Mullen said regarding coaching in the NC game - that he made a promise to Tebow that he (Mullen) would give him the tools to get to the NC game if he was willing to do whatever he was asked to do. Tebow did just that, and Mullen now feels like he must hold up his end of the bargain - that he will be there through the NC run. I respect that, and Tyler's parents seemed to, as well.

Lastly, Mullen mentioned at least one recruit that had committed to FL that may be changing his commitment. I believe he is from LA and he said the largest obstacle to recruiting him to FL was the distance between home and Gainsville - but he verball committed due to the type offense that Mullen runs. Mullen stated he thought he may now come to MSU due to proximity to his home and because the offense will be exactly the same. I apologize for not having a name - some of you probably know who I'm talking about.

the kid was reluctant to go so far away from his home...which I THOUGHT he said was Shreveport... I apologize for making it sound like I knew he was from LA - I just got that impression.

The only player committed west of the Miss. for Fla is a DE from Colorado. I'd take him....rated #4 DE in country. 6'7" 235. Doubt it's him since he doesn't play offense. I'm sure we could try him at TE if he'd like.

I agree with the Bumphis theory. Mullen described Bumphis several times yesterday and fell short of naming him due to NCAA restrictions. I think Bumphis is excited about MSU and Tyler Russell, being the great leader that he is, has been pushing state to him since we named a coach.

The idea that it's Montrell Conner may be true but he's from Monroe, which is over an hour from Shreveport and the two are not easily confused.
