Byrne did say it was a regional team and a few La. Tech people are claiming they just signed a series with an SEC team.</p>

At our Shreveport/Bossier baquet this week our Associate Ad said , and I quote, "TECH has SIGNED a deal with a regional SEC team for a home game in Ruston." He wouldn't say who as the other school wanted to wait to announce it. We (The Shreveport/Bossier NW La Tech Advancement Group) guys had a meeting since and pulled up ALL REGIONAL SEC future schedules and you're the ONLY guys that fit ANY of our future open dates for the next 5 years. We even crunched Vandy's schedule as this would be the only other SEC team that I could picture coming to our house-regardless of "regionality" and there are NO OTHER possibilities for a home game with ANY OTHER team in the SEC WEST.

That being said congrats on your season ticket sales. I've heard you guys are doing fantastic and I hope we have a fanbase as supportive as yours is for our own program someday-sooner than later. I had a fantastic time with your fans last year and I hope we showed your fans that made the trip a good time. The ones that I met were great and we truly did everything we could to make them feel welcome. Looking forward to the next go-round. BTW: We'll go ahead and kick Auburn's butt for you first thing this season and then get after the purple and gold tigerpee dudes down in Baton Rouge while were at it this year. GO DAWGS (mine and yours this year)!

I don't mean this to be attendance smack in any way, but from what I saw last year you're only hope of ever filling that stadium is if LSU somehow agreed to play there. You couldn't have asked for a better situation to open the season last year - MSU coming off a bowl win, Jackson only 120 miles away with an easy interstate drive, and season opener where there are high expectations. After all of that, there were still plenty of seats to be had.

...had they not stupidly doubled their usual ticket price just because we were coming. When your home crowd is used to $20 tickets and all of a sudden you ask them for $40, they're not going to do it. I heard one guy on the phone outside the stadium on his cell phone telling someone "They want $40 to get in here tonight....I'm not paying it!"

A school like La Tech has a lot of walk-up ticket buyers, and they priced them out of their own market.

it would be much better in Shreveport at the Indy Bowl.

And that said, in some ways I wouldn't mind a rematch now that we have a legit coach.

I highly doubt they will ever agree to move the game from home to the Indy bowl after we played them at home the first time.

Why would we go back to Ruston? That's retarded. A home and home with Southern Miss makes much more sense than any deal with Louisiana Tech requiring us to go back to Ruston any time soon. RUSTON! F*cking Ruston! A year's worth of optimism came crashing down in that town. Have you blindly forgotten? It was the greatest scheduling blunder in recent history and somehow it's not so bad because Byrne is doing it this time around? There is no redemption in beating them next time. It's Louisiana Tech. Where are the people on this board who raised almighty hell on the previous administration for sending us there in the first place?

There was that small matter of a hurricane and mass evacuations from South LA. It doesn't totally excuse the crowd, but it certainly was a factor. Anyway, how do you think the fan base would react if another deal was made with Tech...even if it was a better deal (2 for 1)?

As much as I hate it, it's true. We will have a 2 for 1 with Tech after we get the return game from them. Right now the return game will be in Ruston, but it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up in Shreveport. I would still rather do this than a home and home with USM. I don't think we should play USM unless we get a 2 for 1.

than a home-and-home with USM. The ONLY thing that putting USM on the schedule would help would be instate ticket sales BUT if we are already selling out of season tickets now with a projected crappy team, I don't see that we need much help in that department. Now if we lay an egg this season with 3 wins or less we may start needing assistance with ticket sales next year.
