Maybe someone can explain this to me.

I continuously read on ole miss boards that we are recruiting CUSA talent and a "bunch of 2 stars". We are currently ranked 19th in the nation in team recruiting on scout.com and ole miss is 20th. How can these people say this when they can easily see that we are ranked ahead of them in recruiting. I don't want to get into the whole recruiting rankings battle, but are these people joking around or are they really that delusional?

your team's players/recruits are always better in your own mind. I personally hate recruiting, because 2 stars can turn into all Americans and 5 stars can be huge busts and locker room killers.
You may not want to believe it, but I actually was in the middle of an argument last year where the question was "would you trade Lee for Snead?" There were a good number of usually rational people who said they would rather have Lee. It is just the way it is, your players are always a little better in your mind.

that our guys will be two stars one Yancy "re-evaluates" them.

I really think I have the best approach to football recruiting. Who did we get? Can they play? How big are they? How fast are they? Are they going to get into school? When will they play for us?

The "stars" don't tell me how good a recruit is. I look at their video or watch them in person if I can and then decide for myself.

And yes, I trust my judgement over RoseBowl, Yancy, or Gene. I actually have about as much qualifications to judge these high school kids as they do anyway.

Yancy goes to unusual links to re-evaluate these recruits.

It's becauseat the end of last year's recruiting season, you were losing players and replacing them with players no one had ever heard of, and who were not highly recruited. And some of them didn't evenqualify (example: Paul whatever his lastname was). Things are better this year on the front end. Remains tobe seenhow you'll finish. Hey, you asked.

you are referring to Paul Crawford, who actually had another SEC offer, a Big XII offer and did qualify. However, we did not have room for him, he went JUCO for about a week and ended up at FIU. And if you want to talk about finishing, how are Drummond, Cotton, Tig and Patterson working out for you guys?

Those aren't exactly CUSA football programs. Muniz was committed to Utah. Lawson was committed to Texas Tech. Most all of these schools that offered these players have experienced more success in football over the past few seasons than MSU or Ole Miss.

the most accurate methodology I've yet to find is to look at an athletes other offers...

if he's being recruited by the USCs, Floridas, Ohio States, etc, I don't give a damn what his star rating is....I want a shot at em....

Crawford set to qualify at Mississippi State05/28/2010 BulldogBlitz.com

Paul Crawford
told Mississippi State when he committed on the eve of signing day that
he was going to qualify.

The 6-foot-8, 245-pound defensive end from Lewisville, Texas was telling
the truth and will graduate next month with his academic affairs in
order. But the only problem in the equation is that the Bulldogs
oversigned and are now short on scholarships.

Everything I wrote is the truth you 17ing toolshed. No one said he was all world. I was simply pointing out the kid had more than just CONFUSA offers. And yes, no one thought he would qualify, he did, he was offered to be placed at MGCCC and he didnt want that, so he is at FIU. I didnt realize I touched a nerve with you though in pointing out the deficiencies of Houston Dale Nutts 18th ranked 2009 class...sorry. You might want to try something with a plastic applicator next time.

Did the Rebel fanbase have this "ourshit doesn't stink" attitude about recruiting before Orgeron? I know you've had it about life in general, but specifically recruiting.

No seriously why do you care what an Ole Miss fan thinks of your recruiting class? I can guarantee you that unless MSU lands a top 5 recruiting class and Ole Miss lands a top 50 recruiting class, Ole Miss fans will say your recruiting class is full of CUSA rejects and players that Ole Miss didn't want. That is what fans do when it comes to recruiting, there is no winner, its not black and white, just all kinds of gray. So if Mississippikite or REBMIK thinks that Donte Moncrief is better than Joe Morrow, or that Dak Presctott isn't SEC material, does that really surprise you? It shouldn't. I would expect MSU posters like MSU76 to think that Cody Prewitt is overrated and Gerrod Holliman won't qualify. Just the way it is.

At the end of the day, Im assuming you are a fan of Dan Mullen and what he is doing at MSU. If that is correct, why do you care what Ole Miss posters say on a message board about your recruiting class? You trust Mullen, and that should be enough. I trust Nutt and if he wants to offer Mikhail Miller, I don't care what anyone says, Im going to trust that he is going to help us win games.

I know recruiting arguments are simply more prevelant now that there are approximately 15 websites between Ole Miss and MSU, basically a reporter for each SEC level prospect in MS, but can't we just agree that you don't want most of our commits, and we don't want most of your commits.

But regarding Crawford, as I mentioned in a post maybe a month ago Garrick McGee is my uncle, so I know his deal. Good measurables, enough to take a chance on, but no grades and no motor. He was one that if you got him to camp maybe you could've caught lightning in a bottle.

You're lucky HD6 doesn't still run this board, or your smartass *** would have been banned a long time ago.

..reservations to hang out over there for the next 15 years.

The only thing I hate worse than a know-it-all MSU fan is some jackass know-it-all Ole Miss fan talking **** on a MSU board.

Allow me to reiterate what I said previously: Just thank the messageboard gods dawgstudent is running this show, because if HD6 was still the Top Man in these parts, your idiot butt would have been banned a long time ago.

Well, I looked it up since you are being such a complete ***.

All of this information is from Rivals because I don't give enough of a **** to look at Spirit and ESPN too. If you want to look it up and refute this, go for it

No BCS Offers Besides MSU (10)
Vick Ballard
Michael Carr
Blaine Clausell
Dillon Day
Dylan Favre
Corvell Harrison-Gay
Christian Holmes
Jeremy Lee
Jamerson Love
Curtis Virges

1 Other BCS offer Besides MSU (5)
Ferlando Bohanna (Clemson)
Jeff Howie (USF)
Nick Griffin (Vandy)
Malcolm Johnson (Cincy)
Eric Lawson (Tex Tech)

So 38% of MSU's signees in 2010 did not have another BCS offer and an amazing 58% only had 1 or no other BCS offer.

See what I did there? I used facts, not name-calling and opinions.

And while I am not going to look up all of the 2010 Ole Miss signees' offers, I will compare this year so far

2011 MSU Commits with no other BCS Offers (7 out of 15=47%)
Justin Cox
Devin Fosselman
Daniel Know
Dak Prescott
Devante Scott
Darius SLay (recommit)
Rufus Warren

2011 Ole Miss Commits with no other BCS Offers (3/15=20%)
Cody Prewitt
Makhail Miller
TJ Worthy

So in 2011, MSU has 2.5 times more commits without additional BCS offers than Ole Miss does.

BOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

I'm sure you're working on the "no other BCS offer = no talent" premise. Do you really think Michael Carr fits into that category?

And as for the "booooommmm", I knew I had to throw some jazz in there somewhere because no Bulldog would respond to the facts, and you, sir, proved my point. Thank you for being so predictable.

Anybody care to discuss the actual information presented?

I don't see anything about BCS offers in there. You made reference to it and listed Michael Carr in the "No BCS Offers" list and I asked you a question. That's all.
