Maybe we should start taking the eBay mentality with recruiting too

Might our star recruits end up being too comfortable with our program by the end of the recruiting process? Johnson was talking all fall about how he will be a Bulldog and how he loved the staff. The shakeup with Diaz and Hud certainly had to have caused some unease and there was little Coach Mullen could do to put the "wow factor" back in his recruiting. He then goes and visits Mississippi and all of a sudden falls in love again. We tell him to think logically, but most 18 year olds (hell, most people) think with their heart before their mind. How can he not go to Ole Miss when it feels better? Why don't we instead try saving our best shot for last to get the wow factor in late?<div>
</div><div>Now, I've never gone through the recruiting process so my description above may not be the least bit accurate, but it seems like we've had several recruits get close to us early on and we end up losing them. Getting close early probably works with some recruits, but we need to use the psychology of the recruits to our advantage. Meet with them and determine which strategy to use. Even when you get them to commit, hold some of your efforts back so you have something when they are getting wowed by other schools.</div>
