McConnell said this today on Chris Wallace's morning show. The Dems look locked and loaded for a filibuster to please their far left base. It would have been far smarter to hold their gun powder until the next Trump SCOTUS pick. If they filibuster now and are defeated, Gorsuch is on the bench and Trump can nominate anyone he wants next time as long as he can get 50 GOP votes. And next time, he could be replacing Kennedy, Ginsburg or Breyer, all at 80 years of age or older except Breyer who is a robust 78 which would dramatically shift the power of the Supreme Court to the right.

McConnell seems confident he has the GOP votes to nuke the filibuster. But if some GOP Senators break away, I would look for McCain, Collins, Flake, Murkowski, or Corker as potential defections.

And they can start looking for other employment come the end of their terms.
