Seeing my dad has been dead for 14 yrs and mom 4 yrs...they didn't offer any posthumous tax cuts.I am a lifetime Ky worker who got a tax cut last year. Did your parents? MM probably saved the bill for Trump. Probably the most important function for a govt rep is taking as little taxes as possible. Using some of that tax savings to fund a bloated instate tuition btw.
You do realize that there was a bigger change to the witholding tables making most buffoons like youself think they really got a big cut when in reality they got a smaller refund and little actual cut. You could have given yourself about 90% of your "tax cut" just by adjusting your W-4.
Curious if you know why that instate tuition has become so bloated? It used to be (pre-1980) that the state of Ky funded 85-92% of the cost college for in state students. Tuition to UK in 1977 was $285/semester. I actually paid less than that because dad worked for UK. A college kid making minimum wage ($2.65) could work 12 weeks of the summer and make enough to pay for an entire year of school and books. No loans needed.
But after Reagan was elected and with the tax cuts passed states began to cut their funding to secondary education. With funding cut, tuitions began to rise. Because the state was now paying less and less they worried about rising costs less and less. Fast forward, today the state funds 3-5% of the cost.
Lucky for me I've had smart kids who were all awarded scholarships that paid for most of their schooling.
Don't spend that big tax cut you got all in one place.
