Shame on us.

All these off season threads and I don't remember one that mentioned this guy.

Clearly, he's a big part of what's going on here. Maybe not every night, when the shot is off I am sure his minutes will be limited.

But his shot isn't always off.

I take credit for it.
I was listening to the game ( at work)

Cards are down
McMahon commits a moving screen and i yell at no one to get this clown out. He only proceeds to spark UofL on a 17-0 run, with three 3's and excellent defense in the 1st half.

Thanks Kerry we need you to show up every game as well.

No really I thought McMahon hitting three 3’s changed the momentum of the game in our favor and Miami never recovered. What I like about McMahon is he is a scoring threat and the defense has to stay with him. They can’t slump off of him to double team other players. I remember last year when we were playing North Carolina at a their place and we were blowing them out. McMahon was wide open in the corner by himself and we passed the ball o him the whole arena just moaned even before he shot. Then of course he shoots and knocks down the 3.

I would still like to see McMahon come off the bench because he can be a liability on defense but he showed why Pitino recruited him and Mack chose to keep him and continues to play him. When he is on he can demoralize an opponent and hit a bunch of 3s in quick succession. He almost made Miami quit by himself.

His Coach described his shooting as big time. His minutes will only be limited if he can't stop dribble penetration. Looks like he's putting in the work there.

He showed a couple of times that he can now create his own shot. He worked on two occasions to use the dribble to get himself open for a two, instead of just hanging on the perimeter waiting to shoot a three. RM has worked his *** off over the past three years to get to this point. He earns his playing time.

Good observation and I agree that Ryan has been working hard on his game. It is great to see that he wasn't satisfied simply hanging at the three point line all game waiting for spot up threes and instead is much more capable of creating his own shot when the need arises.

I love McMahon and the kid has come as far as anyone, but I have to see this vs a top tier team with athletes that have historically taken him away. I will be very interested in the TT and UK games to see how he performs.

He’s a great player for our team. Not a great player overall, but for what we need. A leader and a shot maker.

Now if we are relying on him in March? Then maybe we should worry a big, but for now let’s let him have some starts in the cake part of the calendar. Because it just takes 1 athletic defender to shut him down completely and then he’s just a liability on defense.
