As I said- their success had a little more to do with top end talent than the it did the "Air Raid"....they ran a very sound system- but having top end talent makes anything look good.

It also helped them a lot that this was their first time around the conference. Nobody had seen their offense live before. The good teams struggled with it in the first quarter to half of the game, then adjusted and shut it down. The middle team will begin to adjust the next time they see them too. They won't shut them down like Bama, LSU & Florida did, but they won't get shredded as bad as this year. A&M is going to be a very good team in this league for a long time, but a lot of things fell into place just right for them this year much like it did for Arkansas last year.

Pretty sure Bama did not shut them down. Although Bama did get tougher after the initial shock.

And you can say pretty much the same thing about the OM offense under Freeze....

you give all the SEC coaches a chance to really study it over the offseason and what the tendencies are and I wouldn't be shocked if it isn't less effective next year. Happens that way with new coaches and new systems coming into a league all the time.

9 points and no TDs in the last 3 quarters will win a defense a lot of ball games. A&M did move the ball some, but if Bama hadn't turned the ball over twice late in the game, they would have won that game.

It'll be less effective next year because they'll be replacing 3 or 4 O-linemen, not because SEC coaches have time to study film. Any scheme can work anywhere in College Football if they have the right players.

You're right. Nice to see Sumlin's offense finally produce a little after years of sputtering.

Sumlin also wasnt playing SEC talent week in and week out...his teams did sputter in conference championship games and bowl games the last few years

Wonder what the difference in ours and Florida's is then under Mullen?

theyll have the heisman trophy winner next year and NFL caliber skill position players. No **** talent helps, but Sumlin will have a top 2 or 3 offense next year. Probably as long as he's there.

And of course the difference between Mullen at Fla and MSU is talent. I've been telling you we signed back to back dead weight recruiting classes after Mullen took over. Glad to see you're coming around finally. I wonder if that's why 1/3 of this class will be JUCO players.
