Valencia wins tonight and Stanford finishes 6th ahead of Michigan. As if I needed ANOTHER reason to root against Penn State.

I'm going to be surprised if AJ and Angelo aren't on the same team next year...somewhere.
Rutgers????
I have heard from pretty reliable sources don't be surprised if Angelo transfers. It's pretty obvious Iowa is a sinking ship right now and TnT's years are numbered. Thinking they will be here for 3 more years is unlikely. Next year will likely be another step back for Iowa.

Bob Nicholls said Angelo ain’t going nowhere so I would say that your reliable sources are wrong.

What Gabe did this year should be cheered from the rafters. More surprising and impressive than PK's run to the podium last year. (And god I love PK, just an absolute warrior again this year). Wait until Gabe's wrestling his natural weight next year. And way to go out on high note for Drake. Just an all around amazing Hawkeye!

In terms of tournament performance Iowa took a step forward this year.

No. By my math, if Davino and Mendez both win, Ohio State passes us. If one loses, they don't. Simple as that.
No, Ohio St has to win both and get bonus in at least one of them to pass us. Should they win both by decision I believe we tie.

We're currently up by 8 points.

Hahaha you don't have any reliable sources so why even post this horsesh*t?
Do better, be better.

I haven't even had time to read the boards, but, I just wanted to stop by and say that Iowa had a really solid tournament. I think that Arnold is one of the best stories from the tournament. I always root for Kennedy and loved seeing him battle for 3rd. When 7 of your 9 wrestlers outperform their seeds, that is a phenomenal effort. Congrats.

Echo that for sure! Arnold’s tournament reminds me a bit of James English’s run. Really gutsy effort. Can’t wait to see the interviews with guys like Ayala and Kennedy post-medal round. Both seem like great ambassadors of the Iowa program. As fans we certainly root for our guys and against our rival teams, but it doesn’t take away from the respect we can have toward the individuals and their journeys. I remember the post-tourney interview with DeSanto years ago and hearing him reflect. Max Dean’s was another.

I think this tournament is exactly what Gabe needed mentally. Historic run for sure when you factor the 27 seed in wrestling up two weights. Truly remarkable. Should do a picture with all 8 AA at 197 standing together just for laughs down the road.
Do the camera slowly panning over the guys at head level...go past Gabe to the next guy and then quickly bring it down and back to his face.

Gabe just entered the Daryl Weber conversation. I hope he has a similar end to his story.

You gotta be kidding me
So did his brother. Getting the hell out of dodge. It’s pathetic.

This all but proves he's transferring to Iowa next year, and this was his first contribution to the team. Brands playing 3D chess.

(Off season starts tonight, so I figured might as well start the sh!tpost threads now.)
All 3 brothers quit after losing in their tournaments. I’ll take 1 Gabe Arnold with heart over any of these 3 stooges.

I suppose AJ is hurt as well?
Not a good look for the Ferrari’s.
They must not have listened to Tom Brands interview last night.
According to Bob N, our Ferrari needs surgery. I’m sure they had a plan that he would see what he could do on the front side injured, but wasn’t going to risk further injury on back side. Risk reward. AJ just got beat up last night, think his pride was too injured to continue 😉
