Mel Keiper just said Dixon was his "under the radar" running back

Yet neither he nor Todd Mcshay have Dixon in either of their top 5 RBs in the draft. I hope NFL scouts disagree.

I think Dexter is going to be more of a slot receiver at the next level. But as far as a pure running back, I think Dixon beats him by miles.

Do not get me wrong, he is a special player but his speed and quickness will be neturalized at the next level. He will be great as a return man and slot reciever. He is not strong enough to beat press converage. I am not sying that Dixon will go higher but they are comparing apples and oranges.

He should be a very solid NFL back. Dex is a high risk, high reward type pick for any NFL team as he could be a game changer or an undersized bust. Dixon is definitely the safer choice. He has the game of an every-down back with his one question mark being speed. If he runs a 4.5ish at the combine, he will shoot up the draft board.

If you're looking for a guy that you can line up in the slot, occasionally at RB, and return kicks, McCluster is your guy.

If you're looking for a guy that can carry the ball 20 times a game and catch a pass or two out of the backfield, and maybe make a cameo appearance at FB, Dixon is your guy.

It's really apples and oranges to compare the two- if there was an all-purpose position, McCluster would be listed at that, but since there's not, he has to be listed as either a RB or a WR. I think the NFL should start listing guys like Reggie Bush, Percy Harvin, and McCluster as such. I know I would if I were them.

The undersized athlete is starting to make its way to the NFL and have a lot of success, which is why Dex will get good money in the draft. He and Dixon are two completely different types of players. You can't compare them because they'll be drafted for different roles.

Dex is smaller than a lot of those players, but some NFL team will pick him up and spend a lot of time trying to find ways to get him the ball in space.

I think I made the comparison of Dixon to Brandon Jacobs a little while back, and I think that still stands. He's a smaller version of Jacobs, a big back that doesn't run like a big back. Dixon will find a niche with someone.

My cousin's a scout and he said he was worried about Dixon's "problems." I don't know what he meant, as I didn't get a chance to get him to elaborate.

but that DUI wont help him any...I think his 40 time hurts him more than the DUI

will most likely go to Houston 2nd round. They are in dire need of a running back and Dixon could be their missing link.

not a good comparison.Pretty sure Johnson is faster than all of them too.

I'd probably compare McCluster to Ray Ray Bivines type playerbecause of his elusiveness and big play potential.

great nfl career IMO as a returner and spot player, but not as an every down back. dixon is much more that guy. i also think he could be a steal for some team. reminds me of jj johnson from msu some yrs back. seems like he didn't get drafted very high and was a bargin for whomever signed him.

I doubt the DUI will be much of a factor. Had it happened at the end of the season, or off season, I'd think it'd matter a little more.
