BDJ is saying that his name is gaining momentum in Austin and could lead to an interview later this week. Not good.</p>

And he worked there for a season at A&M.

He has been a good recruiter for you guys.

I'll help him with his bags if he will leave.

He has been an integral part of getting some of these kids to look at and commit to MSU. I would hate for him to leave before recruiting is over. Would be a huge loss for us.

when Melvin was offered a job at State while at A&M, he said "I would have crawled back to Mississippi". Doesn't sound like a guy enamored with Texas.

I have always heard that Melvin's strength was his ability to recruit, not his actual coaching (not that he is bad at coaching). UT Austin doesn't need any help recruiting. This just seems odd. Sabotageku by Diaz?

I don't fault him for making the move to Texas to enhance his own personal career but if he comes back and bites the hand that fed him by taking or even attempting to take a coach with him then that is NOT cool. Especially right now in the heat of recruiting season.

seriously, if Diaz started the whole thing, is promoting Melvin to Texas on his own actions, then he does deserve to be throat punched.

If he were to go to Texas, I wonder how much he would try to still recruit Mississippi kids from there.

Not a problem when you're hiring young up and comers with a fire in their belly. Tougher to adjust for somebody like Melvin, who has been doing the same thing for a while, has been successful at it, has a comfort zone, and has probably been left alone by the head coaches for a while.I really don't want Melvin to leave,as having a good recruiter that wants to be in Starkville, and therefore can provide some continuity with some of the relationships with high schools and their coaches, communities, etc., helps provide some stability to a program that otherwise (hopefully) willconsistently transition assistant coaches up the coaching ladder.

Great job by the numbnuts again. Right in the middle of recruiting. The week before Whitehead goes to UM for a visit.
Just ignorant!
