more than our coach. It's all Memphis cares about. Plus, he is sitting in the middle of one of the best recruiting cities in America and he gets to play in a NBA arena. There is zero chance we ever pull a basketball coach away from Memphis.

Before UM won the CUSA tourney there weresome folks (Highland 100 types)around Memphis starting to question this kid. I don't think the verdict is in on whether he is the long term solution for the Tigers.

And I'm pretty sure he makes less than Stans</p>

He's a good coach. Might have gotten a head coaching gig 2 or 3 years early, but he's going to be very solid when it's all said and done.

With that roster there is no excuse for finishing 4th in the CUSA, if he were such a stellar coach Memphisdoesn't lose 6 games in conference.

He'll have them straight next year. If they don't dominate CUSA next year, he should be a concern.

...before I'll call him a good coach. He definitely makes a lot of questionable decisions. Like having Black on the floor with two fouls late in the first half, for example. A bigger mistake, and in my opinion, one that cost him the game, was his defense down the stretch. Arizona struggled mightily against the Memphis zone. Their offense was discombobulated and they couldn't get into a flow. When Memphis went back to man, they got more into the flow and got Williams more involved. I was surprised that Pastner stayed in man to man down the stretch of that game. I would've gone back to the zone and made them prove that they could score consistently against it. The zone was also helping Memphis on the boards, and it was helping them get out in transition on missed shots. I think that turned out to be the difference in the game.

That said, if all these players return next year for Memphis, in addition to the Thomas kid they have coming in, look out. They are mighty talented.

hired with little experience at that level. Much the same way that we did not pay Dan big bucks when we first hired him.

I didn't say THIS Memphis coach made more than Stansbury, I was trying to convey that Memphis can, and will, pay way more for a basketball coach than we ever will.
