He was a mediocre outside shooter, only a decent ball handler, and a below average defender. But I think the main thing is he was a prick who thought he should be "the show." I think team chemistry will improve without him. I look at him as a poor man's Rob-ert Jack-son clap-clap-clap. Losing him was addition by subtraction and I think losing Hansbrough may be as well. I think we'll be just fine with Stewart at the #2 position.

i always saw it as he woulda been plenty happy if others on the team were more interested in playing team basketball.

from all the reports and blurbs ive read about him since arriving in South Bend, he has been happy as all get out, and he has slid right on in with the team. there isnt any chance in hell that he will be 'the show' in South Bend, so that really cant be the reason for his unhappiness.

he was 11th in the conf in 3FG% and was our leading shooter in that cat. We need all the guard help we can get next year.

Isn't the line moving back next year? 3s will be at a premium for sure.

I don't think Hans ever expected to be the star.

If you really watched the replay tonight, you could very well see why Ben was wanting to transfer. He was 7/9 shooting and scored 19 points including that slash to the basket with about 2:00 minutes left in the game to cut the Memphis lead to 4 points. He did not touch the ball at all for the remainder of the game. Even during timeouts, Stans was talking directly to Jamont and Charles and Ben and Barry were ignored. Jamont should have thrown the ball to Ben for the last shot of the game because he was wide open. Even the Memphis players could not believe that Jamont took the last off-balanced shot.

Maybe there were other problems with Ben and team chemistry. All I know is he would be the main option this year with Barry and Jarvis. He should NOT have left and there must be some reason that he just could not get along with Stans and his ability to coach down the stretch.

You could see the disgust on Ben's face and mannerisms during/after the last shot of the UGA SECT game and the Memphis game. One of those games on the last possession you could tell he wasn't expecting a pass at all.

I am pretty sure Rose was quoted as saying they and everyone else in the areana knew Gordon would take the last shot. In Gordon's defense though, he did hit a three a possession or two earlier.

he got a good look or not. JG wanted to be the hero, and that's fine, but the team's goals and accomplishments are more important. Memphis could have left every other MSU player open, but JG wasn't gonna pass the ball. Why does anyone wonder why BH was frustrated? Heck, I was frustrated! While Memphis was shooting those last FT's, I told my son not to get his hopes up even if we got the ball trailing by 3 because JG would eat up time while dribbling (instead of passing) and then take a bad, off-balance shot rather than feeding an open player.

These facts make the end of the South Carolina game all the more amazing. That game and the Memphis game show how teams ignored other the other MSU players (in those last second situations) due to JG's proclivity to take the last shot no matter how bad a look he got.

....the revisionist history begins. Just like with the Delks. They all become prima donnas after they decide to leave our program. Nevermind that he was the grittiest player on the floor this past season. Nevermind that we slumped when he was out with an injury. Nevermind that if it wasn't for Ben hitting three free throws on the road at the end of an SEC game, we don't even make the NCAA tournament.

We will miss him badly.
