This is what I was told tonight. The NCAA will not existin 4 years. The conferences you see today will not exist. Instead there will be 4 super-conferences with 16 teams in each conference governed by a new administration. Let me know your thoughts. The source said that this new organization is already in the works and schools are getting ready to break away from the NCAA. Is this even possible?

I don't think they will relinquish that kind of power and money... that is just my opinion. This probably started with the phrase "you know what they should do is..." That's my 2 cents.

It was mentioned during all of the conference re-alignment chatter this past spring/summer.

but only if all the"big boy" conferences tell the NCAA to shove it and move out ontheirown. basically it would take the majority of the BCS conferences to leave and make them irrelevant.

If the SEC, PAC12, Big10ish and PlusOne form 16 tear conferences we can tell the NCAA to go to hell, set up a new playoff/bowl system and essentially create an entirely new division of college football. The NCAA is a purely voluntary organization and there is absolutely nothing they could do if we wanted to leave.

I doubt it happens, but if the big three conferences plus an extra made up of parts of the ACC/Big12 decided they wanted to do it and went to super conferences it would be entirely possible. With conference championships and then the four winners going into a four team playoff you pretty much have a "made for TV" situation. By getting rid of the NCAA would could stop being governed by asshat schools who have no concept of what it means to play in big money sports.

that college baseball would get 20-25 scholarships, be treated with equality and get more exposure, I'm all for it as long as MSU is included.

They said pretty much this exact thing. That the BCS will eventually lead to the big schools/power conferences leaving the NCAA. Why? Money. They will break off eventually and form their own governing board and run their own show and keep all the TV money for themselves. This Assistant AD works at a school that is NOT in a BCS conference so they are pretty worried about what this will mean and what the future holds for them. This person works for a very sharp AD and he usually sees the big picture and what's coming down the road before most do. Just passing it along...

was not only financial benefits, but also because the way the NCAA has handled numerous situations over the past years with really NO superior to answer to with their rulings. To the point where they are almost as strong as the FBI in their on way. It'll be interesting to say the least if this plays out.
