What an exciting day for our University! Coach Dan Mullen asked for a full stadium and a loud stadium and, just like you did for our spring game, you responded. We have told Bulldog fans that the most important things they can do are join the Bulldog Club and buy season tickets. Again, you have come through as we have over 8,000 Bulldog Club members and have sold more than 41,000 season tickets...both all-time highs. We asked the students for their support and for the first time ever, we sold out the entire allotment of student tickets before the first game. Over a holiday weekend, when they could have gone home, our student section was full and very loud. The atmosphere on our campus was electric all day long. Campus and city officials have told us that there may have been more people on campus and in Starkville than there have ever been before.

When we scheduled this game, we knew this would be an historical event. We also thought it gave us an opportunity to have a sold-out stadium and a great beginning to the Dan Mullen era. That proved to be true, but again, without you and your loyal support, that would not have happened. We also salute the Jackson State supporters who made the trip to Starkville and helped to make this day special for the State of Mississippi.

As we did when we broke that season ticket sales record, we will celebrate for a few moments, then get back to the work of making the Mississippi State Athletic Department the best that it can be. Monday, our staff will get together to review the day and evaluate each area of the gameday experience. We have another great home game in 3 weeks as we host the LSU Tigers and we anticipate another sell-out crowd and another great day on our campus. We look forward to seeing you again for that game and hope that you will be following us in Auburn and Nashville over the next 2 weeks.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and wear your maroon with pride. Thank you again for making today a very special day for Mississippi State University.

...we set a record for the number of people in the city and in Starkville. Not sure how they count that. But I can attest that there a damn lot of people just out and about. It reminded me of the last time Alabama came here. No matter how early you got to the stadium on game day, there was a lot of gridlock. People were just 17'ing everywhere.

....and I dare say The Junction is becoming like The Grove with people coming just to hang out there instead of inside the stadium. Not that that's a bad thing.

....and I dare say the Mullen era has upgraded the talent in The Junction as well as Scott Field.
