He is correct
Neal Brown is doing the right thing even though he is 3-6

But playing Devil's Advocate

Where does the climb end?
I think this is the question. There will be some years that WVU will compete for a conference championship.
Like Baylor is this year and Iowa State last year
But...
Will it be every year and will he actually win the conference is debatable.

That has to be defined

The OL should be there sometime next year.
At least to an adequate level.

I am interested in what he brings in on defense.
A lot of these teams you have to play 5 in the box so you need space eaters
A fast defense that contain the run while playing dime
Or
DBs that can play man so you can have 7 in the box.

Seeing more and more teams capable of running power when you go dime.

Everyone here knows WVU is not going to be an annual National champion contender. But WVU can be an annual 8-10 game winner and make a serious run every 5-6 years. There are only a select group of teams that can realistically play for a title every year. Despite some unrealistic expectations from some fans we have (and that every fan base has) that think we should win every game 70-0 and if we don’t we should fire the coach, the majority of our fans know who WVU is and what realistic expectations are.

All that said...

The goal of the program should always be to go undefeated and win a national title every year. Why bother if you are not playing to win the whole thing? Why bother with power 5 membership if you are not focused on being great. If we are going to play to win, we need to drop out of the B12 and go play in the MAC.

The goal is to win championships. That is the destination of the climb. You can play to win championships but understand that you might be better suited to make a run with what you have coming back next year.

Not every P5 team is playing for a NC every year
A lot of fanbases want to win a NC

But coaches have other goals for their programs and handle games completely different

The main goal in college football is building a program so you can possibly compete for a NC.
So long term goals are competiting for a NC but short term goals are different.

Baby steps.
First step for WVU is getting into a bowl game.

Truthfully that is still at play. I am sure Neal Brown understands this and really wants the extra practices for his young players.

I call B. S. on this! Why should I believe some player from Troy State University who actually played for HCNB, when my friend "Bucky" had advised me that this coaching staff is inept and will never accomplish anything near what was accomplished by Dana Holgorson, about whom I think I have heard it said once or twice, has the 2nd most wins in WVU history.

LOL at geek fanboy haha

What exactly is “the right thing” Brown is doing. Name the first thing you think is “right”. Then explain why disarray and below average recruiting is good.

I dont want to end up being as good as Troy is all. I trust Brown. Him thinking mckoy is our best running back and blaming our receivers for a QBs severe lack of accuracy does challenge that belief, but this was never going to be a short term fix even if we brought Saban in here

I don't know captain rape bag maybe cutting ties with the losers from the last staff that weren't going to class, that were cheating to pass classes, having some class, accepting the state and the people instead of looking down on them as if hes superior to them and so is everybody else, going to football camps and actually talking to the campers and representing the state and university. And for the record I didnt realize we already had a.recruiting cycle pass and the kids went through the school and it was all subpar. I'm sure somebody will let coach brown know the troll under the bridge raping little boys doesnt think much of his efforts

Getting rid of the trash. Trying not to allow the best WV players to leave the state. Recruiting in the WVU area a 300 mile radius and then hit Florida for speed. Takes time to build from the base up. Baylor was 1-11 first year of Rhule. Matt Campbell was 3-9 (2-7) his first year. Matt Wells 4-5 (2-4).Chris Klieman 6-3 (3-3) the best hire of the new guys and experienced team. Well named coach 3-6 (1-5).

Now go home and worry about Pitt beating some high school teams.

He pretty much is rebuilding the program and going young.
You have no idea the talent he is bringing in until you see them on the field.

Troy is 4-5 without Brown

In most cases if you get a quality G5 coach you will see a program slip. Sometimes dramatically and other times slightly.

I will use PJ Fleck at Western Michigan for example

When you don't you get Dan Hawkins from Boise State
They were better without Hawkins
Even Scott Frost at UCF.

Not classy calling kids trash. Actually pathetic fanboy stuff. You’re better than that Allen. At least I believe you are. The rest of your post is jibberish and low IQ. Every coach speak says what you just said. Base up haha stuff. Baylor is in Texas Einstein. i.e. way easier to recruit with that load of talent. Pitt is playing Virginia Tech next week. Ever hear of them?
