Miami hasn't really played anyone of note yet, but I think Richt is going to get them back into the national picture quickly. That was one of the best hires of the off-season.

Richt is another coach in a long line of great coaches who were fired because everyone in the SEC wants to be Alabama. Now he has Miami better than Georgia, and a playoff darkhorse this year.

The SEC keeps churning great coaches trying to play catchup with Saban and will suffer as a conference for it. Georgia is solid this year but not likely in position to play for a major bowl game which is what the fanbase wants every other year. LSU will likely see something similar when reality bites them in the *** (and that reality is with Texas and possibly Notre Dame opening up in the offseason no one at a currently elite level will take LSU, especially knowing that expectations are win the SEC or bust).

Great hire by Miami.

Depends on who LSU gets. IF they get Hermann (a big if perhaps) I think they will be doing great for the future. Saban is getting older. I'm sure they will replace him with Clemson's coach if they can to keep up the fun.

I agree with you on most SEC programs doing whatever it takes to be like Bama, without realizing it is not possible to do so. There is only one Bama and will only ever be one.

The trendy pick for Herman is to end up at Texas. Doubt he stays this offseason UNLESS Houston gets a Big 12 invite (which they might not because ironically Houston is too good. Oklahoma and TCU likely voting no - my guess is they dont want the added competition of another power in Texas despite it helping the conference long term). Otherwise, why stay at Houston where you are in a Boise State scenario in which you are expected to win 40 point snoozers week in and week out with the exception of that one major game at the start of the season just to be in the playoff picture?

If LSU gets him I agree, great hire. But between Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and LSU there are just not enough seats at the table in the SEC West. No idea where Miles ends up but if he stays in the SEC and goes to the SEC East (at a UK, SC, maybe Vandy but likely not) I bet he can turn around a program that will be at the top of the division. Or he can go to a place like the Big 12 and have as good of a shot at the playoffs as he would anywhere else.
