If the Cards beat Virginia and lose to Miami, they own the tiebreaker over four other teams currently with 2 losses because they beat those teams. Only UNC who has 2 losses we don't play.

Of course if UNC loses a 3rd game, it's over if we beat Virginia. So the Cards know going into Thursdays game against Virginia is basically for the ACC championship game. Cards will be heavy favorites.

VT does what? They have 2 ACC losses so the Cards have the tiebreaker over them if both finish with 2 losses.

If Louisville loses at Miami and VT runs the table in rest of their conference games VT goes to the ACC championship regardless of how you feel. VT will have a better record against common opponents.

Since Louisville beat Georgia Tech, if we beat Virginia how could UNC catch us?
We will have beaten both tems that bea
I think we can beat Miami if we play anywhere near the level we have been.
As Charlie used to say when going on the road, you have to pack your defense.

Remember at the beginning of the season how much love Miami was getting (as well as the season before this and the season before that…etc…). Mario may need to rejoin his brother Luigi in the plumbing business.

I'm sorry but how could VT be ahead of Louisville if both have 2 losses? They don't go by head to head outcome?

From Kelly Dickey:

UofL clinches a spot in ACC title game by beating Virginia if one of the following happens:

(1) UNC loses to Duke, Clemson, or NC State
or
(2) VT-BC winner loses one of its following two games
or
(3) GA Tech beats Clemson and Syracuse
or
(4) UofL beats Miami

This is what I thought so how I feel is what is true.

The case of a two-team tie for the second-best winning percentage, the first move is to turn to head-to-head competition, with the winner of that game holding the advantage. If there was no head-to-head competition, the next determinant is winning percentage against all common opponents.May 17, 2023

So if the Cards, VT and UNC are tied with two losses, VT would go? How would that be right? Cards have the win over VT and UNC didn't play either VT or UofL.

Louisville should be ahead because they're the only one with a win over one of the other teams. No way would fans accept VT going ahead of UofL just because UNC didn't play either team.

That would be one huge clusterf%$#. Better go back to divisions.

Don't think that's going to happen because I don't see VT winning out. UNC on the other hand could easily win out.

Because all three teams didn’t play each, the league would then go to the next tiebreaker

NC State, Duke, Clemson. There’s one loss in there…
Probably so. UNC, unlike VT, has the talent to win out, but that is a tough stretch no doubt.

I kind of hope the Cards haven't clinched yet when they play Miami. It could be challenging to know you're already in the ACC championship with two games yet to play.

The motivation would then turn to making the playoff before playing for the ACC championship. A lot of potential distractions there.

I would like to see the Cards needing to beat Miami to make the ACC championship game. Then the UK game which we already have plenty of motivation to win, would be the only distraction before the championship game.

So many possibilities and it's as exciting as it can be.

At this point I think Brohm needs to start stressing every game going forward, whether we clinch in next game or whenever. If they run the table, these guys can have an outside shot at a reward much greater than just the acc championship.

Yep and with UNC still having games against Duke and Clemson is suspect they pickup a 3rd loss

Oh I think always stress the the next game. Every player interviewed always state it’s a one game season. He’s hammered that point home.

The issue with Miami is it is in the road. This team hasn’t been close to the same team on the road. The lines play at a completely different level at home.

Miami is going to be coming off an extremely emotional physical game against FSU. They seem to be on edge of collapsing. It should be a good spot for Louisville. I think it there is a good chance Miami will start a new QB. I think it is the same guy that lit Louisville up 2-3 years ago.

We have played very well and consistent at home. On the road we have played well at times, but are more inconsistent within each game. That's pretty typical of most teams on the road.

However, our team has been improving week by week too and it will have been over a month since we last played a road game.

Here's to better more consistent play going forward!

As they say, defense travels. I honestly believe our defense has their bags packed, their passports stamped and have cleared the TSA lines!!

UNC will lose to either Duke at home, at Clemson and/or at NC State and be out of the running for a championship berth.

The last time UNC won at Clemson was 2002. Clemson leads the series 39-19-1.

NC State has beaten UNC the past two years and has won 5 of the last 7 games.

Clemson and NC State had great wins this weekend against ND and Miami. NC State is already bowl eligible and Clemson likely will be bowl eligible after entertaining Georgia Tech this weekend.

It's difficult for opponents to win at Death Valley and Carter Finley. UNC will not escape one or both of those with a win.
