trying to take Mendoza out with some questionable late hits and the officials are letting them get away with it

Crazy how blatant/flagrant - especially the under-the-chin-targeting - some of those were and nothing was called.....

They definitely missed or just didn’t call that target and another early when Mendoza was hit late in the back. But, to me, the game overall was called the way football games should be; I’d rather them let the players play football and miss/no call a few than spend the game looking for reasons to blow a whistle, act important, and affect games. Call the regular season that way too. People say ‘didn’t lose bc of ref’ blah blah but thats usually said bc one is unhappy anyway with some aspect of the program; everyone knows dimm well there were umpteen things going on last night that we get hammered with on the reg. Officiating in regular season defaults to lions waiting in the brush to jump out and grab the prey, like they get paid by the flag or need to show they’re ’doing their job.’

My concern was there seemed to be a concerted effort on the part of Miami to get Mendoza out of the game early.

I would have blamed refs had Miami won. I wouldn't be able to keep my cool if the CB were constantly grabbing one of my arms preventing me from getting both hands on the ball. I know that is how the CB are taught, but grabbing arms or hands as the ball lands is interference in my book.

I will say that one Miami CB was tugging on IU jerseys all night long and never once got called for interference or holding. That 4th down pass late in the game by Mendoza to the IU receiver near the sideline was clutch because there should have been a holding call the play before on the Miami CB. All worked out in the end.
