For some reason Wilbon decided that even though Stoops was talking about the bottom half of the SEC, this would be a good time to point out that the only reason the SEC has gotten so dominant is that they never play anyone but patsies out of conference (I'm sure that's news to teams like FSU, Clemson, GA Tech, Michigan, Penn St., Oregon, etc.) and on the rare times the SEC ever does play a road non-conference game they insist on using their referees (ignoring the fact that the other school's conference provides the refs for the SEC home game). Kornheiser said he was being ridiculous.

the OOC argument holds very little water these days. i did an informal run through of OOC schedules a few years ago, and outside of the pac 12, the sec was on par with the big 10 and acc and way ahead of the big 12 in OOC games against BCS conf programs and select non-BCS programs (boise, byu, tcu at the time, etc). pac 12 consistently schedules the best non-conf games hands down. no one else can argue anything.
Wilbon is a disgrace. If he's not ranting against the SEC or going on about Chicago he's making bigoted statements against the South as a whole. 17 Wilbon
At last, something we can agree on. That guy is a complete and utter tool. Anyone who tries to downplay SEC dominance is only fooling themselves. Top to bottom, there is no greater conference and the running string of consecutive national championships reinforces this fact.
How many SEC players were selected in the NFL draft? 62 or 63? I remember seeing a column that there were more players drafted from the SEC EAST than any other entire conference all together. The proof is plain as day and Wilbon, and anyone else who even tries to justify his argument, is an imbecile.

I think it ends this year. The only reason Alabama was in it last year was because OSU did not voluntary take a bowl band the year before. I think OSU is going to go undefeated and there will also be someonw else like ND that goes undefeated as well but I don't think the SEC will have a undefeated team this year. It is too hard of a conference and I think everyone else in the country is tired of the SEC winning it and they will do everything they can to keep it from happening this year. Like I said I hope I am wrong.
