In that case, how are you going to know that UK didn't offer to match or even better the offer?
Decisions are rarely only about money. Let's say that Vince has a dream to one day coach in the NFL and thinks that a relationship with Harbaugh would help facilitate that dream... What if he dislikes OSU and thinks that at UM he could do more damage to them than at UK?
Point is that there are other reasons one might make a move. I see in a lot of these comments people trying to find justifications for him to stay about which they really have no idea of what is important to the man on a personal level. You're looking for people to blame if he goes. I think it's clear that we all want him to stay. However if he chooses to leave none of us will have any knowledge of what the deciding factors were in that decision.

Exactly fuzz. I was chided for pointing out there are some pretty good reasons for ANY assistant coach to consider the opportunity to coach at MI under a very well respected coach. But, in the end, it will be about what Vince wants to do and not about the money. Not the same thing of course but Jurich met/countered TX's $ offer to CCS. But TX offers other "opportunities" that UofL could not match.

Latest comment from KSR seems to indicate Marrow stays if UK matches UM offer. Guess it's up to Barnhart and that's scary.

Assistant coaches salaries are about to skyrocket. Up until this year about the only coordinators making more than 1 mil a year was the OC at CU. AU bumped that bar considerably higher by signing Muschamp for a reported 1.7 mil a year, LSU offered Chavis 1.4 a year and he left for A&M and I have no idea what his contract calls for, yesterday UGA just gave our DC an extension and 1.3mil + incentives, I am guess when UGA hires their new OC it will be in that range and all other coaches got raises. Just last week our AD announced there would be no raises, but seems someone had a sitdown with him Wed and he had a change of hear. But thats what you have when you get a bean counter for an AD instead of someone involved with athletics during their career.

So, to keep moral on the staff high, you can't give one assistant a raise and not give the others one. But the truth is SEC schools are bringing in about 25 mil extra this year from the bowls and SEC network, part of it should go to the ones responsible bringing that golden egg in.

Grump, you're so right. SEC Network $ is reaching asst coaches. Will UK be a player? Hard to say but history says no.

I am confident UK will match the Michigan offer.If they do not,look for Stoops to leave for the first decent offer from another school.Up to you Mitch.Pay the man or set us back once again.

FWIW, the KSR report of maybe 30 minutes ago said reports of him staying or accepting the UM offer aren't true. Maybe things have changed since then.

Reading over on the Michigan board, I'm seeing that 247 is reporting that Marrow declined. I also seen on there that an unlisted site says he is going.

If Marrow didn't take the job before he left Ann Arbor then I'd say Harbaugh made his best pitch and failed as long as UK makes him a fair offer. That tells me he wants to stay at UK but get compensated fairly. If UK doesn't make him a fair offer then he has the Michigan offer in his back pocket. Its a win win for him either way. But the fact that he would not commit to Michigan without meeting with UK first is significant.
