Over on another message board people had an annoying habit of replying with well known headlines to old news stories when you posted something old. One of the favorites was of course "Japanese Bomb Pearl Harbor". Being that all stupid things are fodder for ridicule over here people transitioned it to "Germans Bomb Peal Harbor" in keeping with the Animal House speech. After a while that got too long and was shortened to Germans and ultimately to anything Germanic in nature. And now you know... the rest of the story.
