Is it possible to ignore a subpoena from the Senate?
I was reading that the special prosecutor investigation could inhibit the congressional inquiries due to individuals refusing to testify in a senate hearing because it would/could be used as evidence in the Mueller investigation. They might comply after their interviews with Mueller, but likely not before.

I guess pleading the fifth is the only way to do it, he still has to appear though and take it.
The headline is a bit confusing and will probs be cleared up soon, but he can definitely choose to ignore the subpoena. Lerner did it.

I think Congress should back off until Mueller completes his investigation, honestly.

According to Trump and his loyalists....it means you're guilty
I think you are wrong. Everyone is allowed to take it. Could be in a world of hurt if the plea has no way of enhancing guilt. Lerner took it illegally because she was facing no guilt due to previous waiver.

Possibly. I know Lerner did and I think Holder did as well?
For some reason, I think that only a grand jury, a criminal investigation, can you not ignore the supeona. The Senate is not a criminal investigation. If granted immunity, has to be in a criminal investigation, can you not invoke the 5th.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what it is. [winking][winking]

subpoena. Sounds like he is still shopping for a deal.

Maybe he can hook up with Lois Lerner (the IRS Chick) and share strategy with her attorneys on 5th ammendment pleas?

Or how about those folks who programmed Hillary's illegal private e-mail server?

They just might be able to help Flynn develop a strategy on how to cut a deal to avoid going to jail under orders from a Government superior.

Lock him up!! Lock him up!! Lock him up!!

He needs Comey to explain his "intent" behind talking to the Russian Ambassador. They were just discussing their Grandkids and some future wedding plans for their other Daughters.

My recollection is that the issue with Lerner pleading the fifth is that she made a statement about the situation first. Basically, some think you can't speak on a subject in a hearing, then plead the fifth when asked about it.

You are exactly right. She made an opening statement and then took the Fifth.

Start a rehash Lerner thread PATX, this one is about Flynn taking the fifth. Of course the main difference here being he also has already asked for immunity.

From what? What crime is he "alleged" to have committed? What did Trump ask Comey to stop investigating him (Flynn) on? The Left says Trump tried to obstruct Justice into an investigation of him, of what?

So let's hear it Keyser76. What has Flynn done wrong? What is his alleged "crime"? What Federal Law(s) has he violated/broken (specifically)?

For instance, Hillary violated several provisions of the espionage act through her use of an illegal private e-mail server and the mishandling of classified material on it.

So in one sentence like I just did on Hillary, explain Flynn's alleged crime?

I don't know asshat, ask him why he requested immunity and from what, I can't read his mind. This post is about the "fact" that Flynn is taking the fifth, go to the Hillary board for whatever you are bitching about.

Worked for Los Lear

Worked for Los Lerner. ...no big deal...RIGHT? !!!

"lost leader" .

The guy who really rankled my feathers was that arrogant John Koskinen (IRS Chief) who showed up to answer questions, and then refused to answer them or feigned ignorance over other questions he was asked about the IRS targeting Conservative tax exempt groups.

That Dude was so arrogant he couldn't smell his own farts. 'Bureaucrap'

OK so you calling me a name answers my question? You're the one raising an eyebrow starting a thread about Flynn taking the 5th, I figured you knew what you were posting on?

Why post that remark? You assume he has a reason for taking the 5th? Has he? How do you know if he will or if he won't? Where did you get your information?

Guess I just assumed too much for you huh Keyser76, you're such a staunch defender of your posted positions.

I admire your courage. I wish I had your talent for name calling, but can I at least request an autograph because you're so good at what you do!

Didn't the ENTIRE DNC refused to testify? Didn't ALL of Killarys drones refuse to testify on her e-mail server?.
."move along nothing to see here"
Ok. So if Dems take the 5th it's because they're guilty, and if Flynn takes the 5th it's no way because he's guilty?

I think the one thing he's guilty of is not reporting the money he got from Turkey and not registering as a foreign agent. He SHOULD have been talking to the Russians as Trumps foreign security adviser.

The Dems talking the 5th were not facing an independent prosecutor. The Dems would never name one. Flynn is facing one and he will have to provide what is subpoenaed by that special prosecutor. The Dems who took the 5th, never had to produce anything.

Based on reporting thus far, you are correct. But many have made the same or similar mistakes. John Podesta's brother, for example.

I assume anyone taking the fifth has their reasons, asshat, I posted that "fact", not a "position", because it is pertinent news to the ongoing story. I didn't answer your question because it has nothing to do with my post.

OK Dude. Post me when Flynn takes the 5th, and then let me in on what his alleged protection from prosecution is for...will you do at least THAT for me Keyser76?

Fact: The Dems who took the 5th did not face a special prosecutor and were not required to turn over anything. Flynn will be required to do so. He would be crazy to say anything to the Senate or the House while under this kind of investigation.

Lerner never faced this.
